Why does the 4.7 4th gen ram not get any love, I have a 2013 4.7 quad cab. It’s the truck I use for work and weekend side jobs. It’s way underpowered but it’s a great truck. Why did no body give the 4.7 the time of day to make a supercharger kit for it? And why does it seem like everytime I go to an auto parts store the kid behind the counter says “I didn’t know it came with a 4.7, I thought it had a hemi”.? It seems like Chrysler used the 4.7 in a lot of vehicles but it’s the red headed step child to the 5.7.

Like you, i have a 2013 4.7L Quad Cab, and she treats me so well each time i fire her up. I think it’s because most people get blindsighted by the HEMI despite all the problems they have, but because the 4.7L didn’t make over a certain amount of HP and the Gen 1 4.7s having like 2 issues (less than the hemi) that they immediately crap all over it. And the lack of performance parts is outstanding, they have performance parts sold for older discontinued Magnum engines but not the 4.7?

Chrysler did use the 4.7 in a few vehicles, and i think it would’ve been smart for them to just continue the manufacturing of it. The 3.6L is amazing, 305HP and 269 LB-FT/TQ, the 4.7 only making slightly more HP but **** tons more torque (330 LB-FT/TQ) and i think that’s another reason why no one likes it, because they can’t look past it making only slightly more hp and don’t think of what really matters in a truck, like torque.

The only reason the 4.7 was discontinued is because Chrysler couldn’t get it 1 MPG lower. Like really? Pair it up with the 8 speed! Give it a better than the hemi MDS system that doesn’t make the engine **** it’s valvetrain! Give it VVT! Give it dual cams! and you would’ve made up for that 1 mpg difference by many more than 1. i’m sorry for the rant, but it’s my opinion. The 4.7 is an AMAZING engine and didn’t deserve to die as soon as it did.

Have had mine for 5 years and haven't had a single regret. Meets all my needs for a truck so far. I've other vehicles that fill the need for speed, horsepower and the adrenaline rush, and yet the Ram is still one of my favorite ones to drive.

While the 4.7 is a LOT easier to work on the then 5.7 they both have their problems but the Hemi has way more power and its fun to drive un like the under powered 4.7 its just not a good fit for a truck this size.
