This has been going on since I bought the truck new in 2019. Each night I park on a slight decline and the first startup of the day I get the reading on the dash that says Low Oil Pressure. Says it for a few seconds and goes away. There is no issue, I was just curious if anyone knows why it does this?

Thank You!

Does the engine rattle a bit upon start-up?

Have you always used the same type of oil filters? What are you or the oil-change outfit you go to using? I would first look into the filter, in particular the anti-drainback valves in the filters. Perhaps try something like a bosch or known really good filter. I use the Mopar filters. They seem pretty good. Wix is good...Napa. There are more expensive filters too, but any I listed should perform well.

What happens if you park on the level overnight?

I use the Mopar filter, the only filter I have used with this truck. If I park level I dont run into the Low Pressure Warning. Its just parking face first on a the driveway decline. I dont notice any rattle on startup whether level or on an decline.

How low is low?

Set your evic screen to the one that shows oil pressure, then next time it does this pay attention to what the oil pressure reading is on the evic.

It could be that your last oil change, you got a filter with a weak anti-drainback valve, and parking on the incline is exposing that weakness.

There is no way to know, pressure has built up by the time I switch to the EVIC screen. Its in the 50's once it builds up pressure which only takes a few seconds. Idles around 32

I meant, put it on the correct screen and leave it there. That way its already on the right screen when you start the engine.

But, it sounds like its just the angle your parking at is causing a little more draindown than normal, so its taking your oil pump a little longer than normal to get the pressure back up.

I doubt you have anything to worry about, but if it concerns you, try to get into the habit of parking the other way.

So, is it the nose up, or the nose down orientation that's causing this?

Nose down, in my photo you can see the truck parked level. If I go forward a little bit its facing down and thats the issue.

Try and park level. You answered your own question.

Since you bought the truck new - and it had a warranty, did you take it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair?

It probably takes that time for that sensor’s circuit to complete itself .

It’s been like this all along,I think your good to continue.

You could always by a new OEM sensor and see
If it changes anYthing

Perhaps in your particular decline, the orientation of the sensor allows more oil to drain out (of the sensor itself) ..moreso than when level?? (just speculation).

To test the theory, you could temporarily install an external test oil pressure gauge on the engine and see what the reading is first thing in the am. Autozone/OReilly rents them for free. Maybe as stated above by another forum member, the pressure isn't low, but takes two seconds for the sensor to fill with oil. Whereas when parked level maybe more oil is remaining. Again, just speculating.

I appreciate everyone's response. I was never worried about it, literally from day one its done it, never thought to ask about it. I also see where some other people have the same thing happen. I was curious about the why, and those explanations make perfect sense to me.

Thank you again, and that's why i love this forum, if you have a question, just ask.

I parked my '21 Warlock, front down for a couple of hours after only running for a minute or so.

After the next start, I heard about 2 to 3 seconds of what sounded like a bag of marbles in a tin cup. I didn't observe any low pressure.

That was the one & only serious startup rattle I've heard since I've owned it.

On my '15 SLT, I keep the evic screen set to show my system temps and oil pressure.

When I start my truck, it takes 15-20 seconds to run through the startup stuff, and then it switches to the temps/pressure screen, and my oil pressure at that time scrolls up to pressure.

No rattle unless I've short-tripped it.

I think it is just the electronics catching up.

How much of an incline? The oil pick up is located at the rear, in the sump portion of the oil pan. Even if you were down a quart, there should be enough to cover the pick up.

Disregard all of the park here, and buy that. It is normal for all of the lights to cycle through so that you know they work. My 2500 and 5500 both have always displayed it if I left the key open for a few seconds prior to turning on.
