Seeing if anyone has had any real success with lowering vent noise.. huffing.. i have a driverside foxbox.. .95 cu/ft.. i have a soundstream rubicon 450 rms sub in it... a little big.. minimum requirements are 1.0 cu/ft..650 rms soundstream mono amp.gain is only half way and it pounds, but some frequencies cause terrible huffing. Tried stuffing socks in it.sounded terrible . and egg crate foam..i think im gonna try attaching egg crate foam to just one side of the port.... any suggestions welcomed...

Two words: Sealed Enclosure.

^ Yep!

You are going to wrestle with that enclosure for a long time and probably never be happy. Not that there is anything wrong with a Fox Box, it just brings a sound that some may not like.

I know for me, I went from a ported Fox to a sealed enclosure and could not be happier. The bass is smooth and subtle. Probably not a good endorsement as I need to get rid of my Fox Box. ;) LOL

Autokraftgt, i messaged u on another thread about how u put your eggcrate foam in... did u try to line the walls if the port or just shove it in and block the vent? Any sugestions on subs with low xmax that still pound? Only sealed driverside i found was way too small..small mounting depths . troutspinner do you have a netbox or custom?. The wife is already pissed about me dumping more money into the new 50k truck, ordering a new box might just put her over the edge... i was thinking i could slip a new sub in without her noticing...

I am running an MTX Thunderform Enclosure, https://www.mtx.com/drqc20ut-mtx-vehicle-specific-custom-subwoofer-enclosure

I did want a Netaudio box because I wanted to go from 1 sub to 2. Since I knew Netaudio has a lengthy backlog I figured I would find "something" to hold me over until I ordered the Netaudio. That "something" turned out to be the MTX enclosure on Craigslist for $125. Since I am very happy with it I have not given it any more thought.

I know what you mean with the wife and all. ;)

hmm, my messages are empty...anywho, I didn't over complicate it at all. Simply took about a square foot and folded it over a few times and shoved it in. Has held strong for about a year.

My Arc Blacks do not pound, but they're very smooth, transparent, delicate, have great xmax, and move a lot of air. They are not a loud subwoofer, so if you're looking for output, you will not be happy with them. But if you want sheer buttery bliss....they're a very musical sub.

Ok people, i have had some success. I bought a 12*12*1 sheet of acoustic pyramid foam, tried just soving it in and lost alot of db's and it sounded terrible so i cut only 4 rows. So a 4*12*1 piece and put it in the port diagonally... now this has probably changed the tune frequency a little, but it still sounds very close, db's have not been lost and port noise has been greatly reduced... just in case anyone else was fighting this battle...
