Proud to say that I just bought my first Ram. As a matter of fact, it's my first truck. It's a 2002 Ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.9 (360) Magnum. It's in good shape and I primarily use it for hunting. I need a new muffler, so I'd like to go ahead and upgrade the stock system without spending a ton since it isn't a show truck. I'd like a nice growl without a lot of cab droning. I'm not sure if I should get a cat back system or just the muffler and tail pipe.

Additionally, I have no idea what the optimum pipe size and muffler shape/design I should get. I haven't been able to get any specifics from the magnaflow website.

Any expertise would be appreciated and your answer may trigger more questions. Thanks!

I have the 14" magnaflow with duals out the back behind the tires. I really like it, low idle, nice rumble while driving normally but once you get on it loud and awesome sounding. I too have the 5.9

Thanks fellas. I wish their website let you build a system then hear it for your specific truck. Then i'd be able to know exactly what I need. I hate getting taken for something I dont need or want. That's why I try to do plenty of research before I go inside.

Any idea on what size piping to get? They have so many to choose from. I always heard bigger with more air flow is better.

Ok here is my set-up. I have 3" in and 2.5" duals out the back with 3.5" miter cut tips. If I was going to do a single in and single out then I would have gone 3" in and 3" out. This was suggestion I got from my exhaust guy and my neighbor who races sprint cars (dirt track). My dads 4.7 has a 3" in and 3" out 18" magnaflow on it and it's almost equally as loud as mine. Either way they sound awesome on our trucks.

On a side note finding videos or sound clips of the muffler you want gives it no justice to the raw sound you get when you hear it in person. I never regretted putting my magnaflow on and will do it again if I buy another gas truck.

Hey Korby, what size is your muffler and what model is it? Also, is it bearable when you hear it in the cab with like say...your mom or wife in there and you're trying to talk on a trip? Thanks!
