New member guys and I'm frustrated with the whole map update experience! We just purchased a 2014 3500 dually megacab, Larmie Longhorn. First thing I wanted to do was update the navigation maps. Took some digging to find out how to order from the "Here" company but $170 got me a USB stick in two weeks.
So I follow the instructions. First step is to go to chrysler web site to verifiy that I have the latest version of uConnect. It tells me I do (later discover this is wrong). Then follow instructions for "requester" code by inserting usb into truck port and waiting for the code to "pop up" on the screen. This will not happen.
Attempting this on a Saturday morning - so I call "Here" for support and get recorded message that they are only availible Monday through Friday during normal working hours eastern time. SOOOO I take time off work to come home on Monday to be in the truck and call. On hold about 30 min when person who answers informs me system is down and no help can be offered, can't even take a message and call me back. This guy has only worked there like a week and he can't even offer me any advice.
Attempted again Friday afternoon - about 20 min wait to talk with a more experenced lady. She asked right away what uConnect version I had, I told her I had visited the Chrysler website and it said I had latest version - she asked me to read version to her, it was 15.**.** and she said I'm bad out of date and should be on 17.**.**. Why would the website tell me I'm up to date???? She said she has heard this problem before and referred me back to uConnect custer support by phone.
Phone support @ uConnect tells me she is right that my truck should have recieved "over the air" update. He didn't really offer an explaination as to why website tells me I'm up to date. I ask how I can update and he tells me I have to go to a dealer and they can help me. I asked if downloads are availibe so I can do it myself and he says no.
Call the local dealer yesterday. Took forever to get him to understand it's not the map update, I've already purchased it, but the uConnect software that's out of date. He says they have never done this and don't know how - with out looking at it he thinks something is wrong with the radio, but whatever it takes to fix it, it won't be free because I would have to pay for the tech's time. Just didn't sound like they wanted to help me because they were too busy.
So I'm sitting here with a worthless $170 usb stick wondering what to do next...
I've always been a Ford guy up to this truck. Not that my Fords never had issues because they did, but I never felt so helpless trying to get advise or repairs.
