So I bought some black “Ram 1500” decals and will be putting them on the truck. The problem is that the “1500” part of the decal is slightly misaligned from the “Ram” portion of the decal so I wanted to use a marker of some sort to manually mark up and realign the “1500” when applying to the truck. I was thinking of a dry erase or wet erase marker but unsure of how safe they are on car paint. Are those ok to use or is there something much safer that won’t ruin the paint?

Use painters masking tape. If it's vinyl decals, tape the decal down where you want it from the top leaving the ability to lift it up to remove the backing when your satisfied with the position.
If they are plastic letters/numbers, use the painter's tape as your straight edge guide where to place the bottom and either the left/right edge.

It’s clearcaoted.. marker or tape would be fine just don’t leave the marker on there for to long especially in the heat.
