So my granite grey 2022 Ram Laramie is an outdoor car (wife's car and my motorcycles get the garage). I wax it every two months with Meguiars Wax Spray in an attempt to make the oem finish last. Last month I noticed a gritty feel on paint after I washed/waxed it. Truck has 40k on it and I live in SoCal and my web research said the gritty feel is "contaminants". Further research said to wash heavy dirt off, then wash with decontaminant wash, the rub out with clay & waterless wash detail splay, then wax. I did this and the truck finish turned out fantastic! It was all actually pretty easy! The key to this was using a "clay towel" instead of actual clay ... I didn't even have to rub hard ... a couple locations (hood and top lip of doors) did require a second clay toweling but the toweling is so easy.

Products used:
- 1st car wash: Some water and a little liquid hand soap.
- 2nd "decon car wash": Optimum Touchless Decon Car Wash Soap ($17 Amazon) and Armor All 2-in-1 Foam Cannon ($41 Ace Hardware) ... I just used my garden hose not a pressure washer.
- Car Wash drying towel: The Rag Company The Liquid8r Absorbent 70/30 Blend Microfiber Drying Towel ($30 Amazon) ... bought this to eliminate streaking when hand drying.
- Claying effort: The Rag Company Ultra Clay Towel 12"x12" ($38 Amazon). CARPRO ECH2O Waterless Wash, High Gloss Detail Spray, Rinse-Less Wash, and Clay Lubricant Concentrate ($22 Amazon). Chemical Guys Professional Grade Premium Microfiber Towels for Cars, Gold, 16" x 16" 3-Pk ($16 Amazon),
- Waxing effort: Chemical Guys HydroBlitz Ceramic Spray Wax with Carnauba ($25 Amazon). I washed and reused the above 16" microfiber towels.

FYI, I did the washing and claying on the first day, then had to wait 2 days because of personal schedule before waxing. As such I did the decon car wash step again (it was quick and easy) before applying the wax. ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO WATCH A FEW YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON HOW TO USE THE CLAY RAG AND HOW TO APPLY THE CERAMIC SPRAY WAX .... ALL EASY BUT THERE IS SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES :)

Check out Colinite 845. It is also a wax but will protect for about 5-6 months. A good rinseless wash(McKees) with Si02 will also help in between waxes as a sacrificial layer over the wax to not only clean your truck but to enhance the gloss and help with protecting the finish.
Key Details and Best Practices for Collinite 845:
  • Durability:
Provides exceptional, long-lasting protection (approx. 4-7 months)
    .
    • Application: Shake well before use. Apply a thin, uniform coat to a clean surface using a foam applicator pad or DA polisher.
    • "Less is More": Over-application makes removal difficult; only a few drops are needed per 2x2 ft section.
    • Consistency: The wax becomes thicker in cold temperatures; warm the bottle in hot water before use to reach a thinner consistency.
    • Removal: Remove with a microfiber towel after it hazes (roughly 15-20 minutes or after a "finger swipe" test).
    • Versatility: Suitable for clear coats, single-stage paints, gel coats, and exterior metals.
    • Temperature Sensitivity: Can be applied in the sun or shade, but works best when the paint is cool to the touch.
