Hello there -

I am new here, and looking for some help buying tires.

I have a 2015 RAM 1500 and love it. It has the Mopar Performance Exhaust, Mopar CAT, tinted all around and blacked out, and has a 3.92 rear end. I do not have any sort of lift kit installed, and because my manhood resides in my wife's purse at this time, I will not be lifting it... maybe too much info there (sorry!)

I currently have Michlin Defender LTX M/S's in a 275 60R20, and I didn't care for their performance during the winter months in the snow and slop. I have been thinking about trying to go to a 285 65R20 if possible. Many of the people I have spoken to, suspect they wouldn't fit well without raising the truck. Any suggestions for me? Some of the tires I was considering were (in no particular order):

Bf Goodrich KO2's (most tell me they'd ride poorly thiugh)though

Falken's

Nitto Terra

I would love to get my truck a bit higher (if possible) without a lift kit. I want a more aggressive tire too. I would love to read what some of you think. Thx in advance

I put Bilstein 5100s set at 2.1 on my truck, basically leveled the truck and allows for bigger tires.

There is a great guide on here for max tire size, but I just today put a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs on my truck and I love the look. I didn't want to have to worry about wheel rub or anything so I went with a tire that was taller, but not wider. I got 275/65r20s and I really like the look. Thought about the Cooper Discoverer Maxx but I don't need that aggressive of a tread. This was a great combo of looks and practicality for me.8990c6ef5960fffcc894b8fb84d3e6e8.jpg9fb1294658c0c9ff3e5abbddfee99c17.jpg8e16c287b618dca4d9802956b95ad464.jpg7b24eea670f46952ab2a6facaa70c1d5.jpg

I should note in case you don't know that the Bilstiens are a shock, not a lift or a leveling kit, they're highly recommended here, and they cost me about $300, installed.

That's not bad for those shocks. So does that lift the front up a little (they only go on the front right?)

Yep. Look them up. They have an adjustable ring and you can set multiple front lifts depending on how much rake you want. The highest setting is 2.8", but I set mine one notch lower at 2.1" to keep the tiniest bit of rake and to keep from being nose high if I'm towing or have a large payload. I've had them on for a while and I love them. Just get an alignment after, which you should do if you get new tires anyway.

These two pics are both with factory size tires, one pre Bilstein, one post to help you see the difference.859dac25150b4839a70702c690bda202.jpg11f09d48ee21eacae683d45204755533.jpg

Really appreciate the pix fellas. Your trucks look awesome!!

So, it sounds (and looks) like 285's will fit nicely if I add those front shocks. When I was looking at tires, I did notice that the 285's were quite a bit more money. I'm thinking of going with 285 65R20's instead of the 60's. I should definitely look up the TOYO's in both sizes just to see the difference.

THEN I'll need to get my steps. I am considering the AMP Retractable steps. $1500 is a lot (plus install).

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it!!

It was a minimum of $250 more for the 285/60s, I would've loved the look but couldn't justify the price. And the 65s were another $100+ more than that.

My 2015 with a level only, then 20x9 0 offset, 285/65/20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2.
I liked that tire, LOVE the Nitto Ridge Grappler.

Instead of the AMP, check out the Rolling Big Power Stealthboards.

Man those are some nice looking trucks. My truck rims and tires looked almost exactly like the one's posted by Graygoose. But when I bought it in '15, I downgraded the rims and tires to what I have now to save some money. I was concerned about the cost to replace 22" tires, and I was concerned about their performance in the snow (dealer said they would "push" a little bit). I probably should have just kept them on there.

I tow a 3500 lb landscape trailer 3-5 times per week. I also tow a 22 foot boat that is somewhere between 5-6K pounds. If I put those shocks on the front, is it going to make it look like my truck is squatting?

Are the stealth boards better than the AMP steps? Did you compare the cost against the Amp ones?

Yes I'm sure with the wide tires and all the snow would make it harder.
If you do tow, add some Airlift air bags, relatively inexpensive. Can air up as needed.

Ive heard good on AMP, yet heard install horror stories. My installer does the AMPs all day, and said these RBP was far easier to put on and adjust, and cheaper. They offer like a 5 year, no question asked on warranty on any part.
Rolling Big Power makes some great wheels, etc...and just got into the power step market.
So far, me, and wife love the ease of them getting in and out, even with a 4.5/3" lift

I don't suppose you'd have a link to where I can purchase the Stealth Boards??? I have found several places to buy the AMP ones. The amp steps for my truck are $1500. They do run a coupon for 10% off so I think I can get them for $1350.

I will probably get the tires done in mid September. And then I'll look into the bars shortly after
