There are admin people onboard ships, and they have duties other than admin when the crap hits the fan, so yeah, they are active duty too.

If you are away from your family on a ship, you are active, no matter what your rate is.

I suppose you're gonna say corpsman ain't active duty either ?? or mess specialists ??

You should know better........................but then again maybe not, you were a jarhead...........:)
Corpsmen are gods!

Socal is right. (May not be the right place to share this, but I will take the heat) Coming out of Red Beach one morning. 40 trucks re supply ammo and c rats. Truck ahead hit a line mine. Road blocked, trucks up front move on, trucks behind stopped. Mortors, rockets and small arm fire rain in. (Convoys are high value targets. Never stop) Drivers and shotguns hit the ditch. Radio man calling for ******. I look over my shoulder and see 2 Corp men racing up the road between the ditch and the trucks. Their focus was one thing,,,get to those men in that blown truck. Courage, guts and nerves of steel.

I put smiley faces on each of my posts....quit having such thin skin. Yes, I am a Jarhead, so yes, I get to make fun of all those who joined any other department, it is one of the perks of being a Marine.

Mess specialists (cooks) were always active....I liked to eat.

Corpsmen are gods amongst men, how dare anyone take their titles in vain?!

Admin, even on ship, were inactive at best 99%+ of their time.

Only those who served may rightly poke fun of other branches. I lose my **** when someone who never served takes a jab. WTF!

Incidentally, the Marine Corps is actually a department of the Navy . . . (wait for it) . . . THE MEN'S DEPARTMENT.

So, you always let your 'women' drive you around ? pretty sad excuse of a man if so......(BTW, that also means you are calling the Seals women too....)

:slap:

Marine paychecks use to say Dept of the Navy.........not any more tho.......

Use to have a Boss who was a jarhead, and when he'd get riled up when I called him navy......especially when I reminded him of where his paychecks came from.

A similar post on another site got pretty rough when someone said they didn't think any benefits should be given unless you were actually shot at during your service.......pretty sure he realizes the error of his ways now after over 100 people jumped on his post.
