I have a 1997 1500 with 63000 miles the truck sat for a very long time. I have been driving it now for over a year. It will trip the check engine light usually under hard/ merging acceleration. The have done sending unit, plugs, wires, cap rotor, pick up sensor, coil, crank sensor, injectors. Throws codes showing missing on all cylinders. Once the codes are cleared it can be fine for awhile until I am pulling out hard into traffic or otherwise accelerating quickly. I am at a loss any suggestions please

It may be a good idea to double check and make sure it isnt leaking once again in the intake, just remove the air filter assy. and grab a good flashlight look down in there to see if anything is pooling up.

Check to make sure you have the new plug wires ran correctly that will cause this issue as well.

My 1500 5.9l has a random misfire while idling for extended period of time but it goes away once it starts moving again.

could it be fuel system contamination from sitting for so long?

Bad fuel is a very possible option (ethanol attracts water when it sits and degrades). Also plug wire routing like suggested. I suggest filling up with ethanol free good gas and driving it.

I will look at the intake. I have put 10000 miles on the truck and the tank was drained and cleaned when I did the sending unit, so unless there is corrosion or a restriction in the fuel lines themselves. I was also considering if a clogged catalytic converter could be causing the problem?

Clogged cat will usually just keep you from being able to go over 3k and have no balls.

Wire routing, plug gap and type (only copper, anything else pitch em, champion AutoLite and NGK are the preferred brands), brass terminals on cap and brass button rotor, coil can cause it, distributor never got spun did it?
