Knowing what you know about the vehicles now, what must have options do recommend and are glad you have the most?

I don't have my truck yet, just ordered it Monday (Laramie 1500 CC 4x4 w/hemi).. but I'm really excited about the cooled seats and 8.4AN Connect system.

I have a 2013 Laramie and I put a ton of miles on it (over 50K now) and the features I use the most are:

Satellite radio
Backup camera
Nav.
Heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel
remote start
Factory trailer brake controller

I didn't HAVE to have these things but I figured if I am going to be paying for it for 5 years and spending as much time in it as I do, I better LOVE everything about it.

Thats pretty awesome. So is the heated steering wheel that good? I was just talking with my wife about the heated steering wheel and I'm wondering how much I'll like it.

Remote start will be awesome when its hot/cold outside!!

I thought about the larger gas tank, but I read some stuff about the fuel slamming and making a banging sound a particular fuel levels. But it would be nice on long road trips, that's for sure.

I had a 06' 2500HD Bighorn w/5.9L cummins... man, I loved that truck so much. I had to sell it because I'm active duty Air Force and I moved to England. Not enough space on the roads over here for large American trucks.

Man, I can't wait to get back to the states. That is a nice truck you got there though!

v/r,
Jon

LSD is a must have on any truck. everything else is more nice to have but the backup camera is very nice for hooking up trailers and the brake controller is pretty handy too.

never had an issue with the big tank. the extra weight does hurt fuel economy a bit when you fill it up but i can get anywhere from 900-1200km per tank which i love. it does hurt when you fill it from empty but now that gas prices are dropping it doesn't hurt much

Dang, that is crazy! Yeah, I was recommended to get the anti slip diff, so I made sure I added that.

So does anyone have the cooled seats or have any experience with them? I interested in how they work. I've never in my life heard or seen of anything like that until this RAM. LOL!

HELL yes. If I had to choose between that and the heated seats, I would take the heated steering wheel without hesitation. Something about having my hands warm helps make me feel warmer a lot quicker.

Also, I do wish I had the larger gas tank because on a long tow with the race car, my fuel tank empties faster than my bladder fills up.

Cooled seats use fans the pull air from the cabin and blow it through the perforations in the seat. They are fan-freaking-tastic at keeping your back from getting all sweaty during the summer. The cooled seats also help prevent the seats from burning you in the hot sun.

The remote start will automatically start the heated/cooled seats depending on the outside air temp and the seats can go from burning hot to acceptable quicker than you would expect.

thing is even with 4WD an open diff is basically 2WD with 1 front and 1 rear and the only wheels spinning will be those with the least traction. traction control helps make up for it a bit. adding LSD gives you 2 rear and 1 front so really 3WD which is the best we can get with our 1500s since there's no option for a locker or LSD in the front. i've drove enough open diff trucks to know i'll never own one no matter how cheap they try to sell it

never experienced cooled seats before but it's getting pretty common now. personally i don't like leather or the premium they charge for it but i'd imagine having them cooled would be a must have during summer

LOL, I showed your post to my wife. Man, I'm really getting excited about my truck. How fast does it heat up?

That is what I'm talking about! Do you know if the cooled seats are standard on the Laramie? I checked the build sheet that my dealer sent in and I didn't see anything about cooled seats, just heated seats and heated steering wheel.

I have to admit that Diller's post about the steering wheel is getting me pumped about it now. LOL!!

The steering wheel is pretty quick. On the sub freezing mornings I will remote start the truck and let it warm up for 3-5 minutes. The steering wheel is nice and cozy when I get in and I turn it off about 3 minutes into my drive.

Not sure if it is standard but I would think it would be on the Laramies.

Thats good to know. So the truck knows to turn on the heated steering wheel because it senses the outside temp, or do you have to set it up?

On a side note, my wife was telling me she's looking forward to using the park sense cause she hated parking my other Ram. LOL! But it was lifted, so it was a bit more difficult... but not much.:naughty:

I had the 32 Gal in my 2011 1500 QC, there was a bump when coming to a stop when I have 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank but not bad, got used to it after a while. The new 15 1500 CC has the 26 gal I made a drive to Orlando from Tampa a couple days ago and missed the larger tank. The wife and I will sometimes just hop in the truck and drive a few hours, get out have lunch and drive home, it's kinda our thing.

Thanks you are going to love your truck when you are back! Also Thank you for Serving!

Every option available = must have.

I've always believed in loading up every available option,
better to have and never use, then to add later or left with regrets for cheaping out.

a fully loaded truck is also easier to sell when its time to trade in or sell.

My wives LOVES the heated steering wheel.
I use:
NAV a lot.
Sat radio.
Rear parking camera.
Bluetooth for the phone - sending messages, reading messages, music on the phone.
Auto climate control.
Dash is on MPG readout.

Heated steering wheel come on automatically if climate control is in auto, based on outside or inside temp. (not sure which exactly), then it gradually backs off the heat til it is off. Or you can turn steering wheel/seat heater on manually.
