Always wanted to give this a shot and I found a good deal on a set of used headlights. That way if I effed something up beyond repair I wouldn't be stuck without lights.
The disassembly. Baked at 250 for 17 min. Butchered the plastic around the edges pretty nice. Prob could have baked a little longer. Hopefully not too big a deal
Primed up after a nice scuff with 2000 grit and wiped clean
Spray bombed a few coats...
A few clear coats...
Test fit...
Clamped up for silicone to dry and final product....
Hard to get a good pic. When I get home this evening and install, I'll post more pics.
All said and done, I've got prob 9 hours and $170 invested. Def worth it for the experience and I just love doing this kinda stuff. There are a few things I'd do differently if I did a second set. I little more patience for sure. Bake...pry...bake...pry.... Bake... I feel would have been better for not chewing up the housing as much. I also would remember to clean finger prints from inside the lens before I put them back together. I also would not step on the reflector again and crack it in half as I wanted to paint and re-use them.
Thanks for looking, will have more pics this evening
