Hey yall,
This is my first ram. Its a 1999 magnum 1500 with a 5.9 105k miles.
Got it in a deal i couldent pass up, biggest issues is needs new dash, big dent on driver side, new front seats, radio w/speakers, and need new seals in tranny so im gonna drop it and do a tranny rebuild. The whole rebuild kit is under $200.
It makes you think.. I ask a hole in the wall mechanic and the tranny rebuild is $3000. For $3000 i can buy a used auto lift, tranny rebuild kit, an engine hoist, tranny jack, obd reader, timing gun, mechanics tool set from harbor freight, and still have a pocket full of cash.
I want to keep it, but its not 4x4 and thats what i need. If i do sell it im buying another but 4x4. If i end up keeping this truck im gonna weld up a flatbed out of 2x2 angle iron with stained and super sealed 2x6's. If i can do the body work nice enough ill repaint the cab.
This forum seems pretty cool and I hope to learn a lot from you folks. Ive picked up a haynes manual. Ill be sure to take lots of pictures and document from start to finish.
