Hey People -
A big thanks to Catchin Zs who referred me here. I've only read through a few posts so far but already much happier here than some of the other places.. I've had the RAM for a few years now I've added a Bak Flip G2 hard tonneau and new headlights with black bezels so far. My shocks are pretty shot and I've been searching to find out about some suspension upgrades that will give me some lift. Strongly considering the Bilstein 5100's but another member here told me he had some rubbing with them and 35in tires.
As you can see in my signature pic I tow a 23ft boat quite often which is about 5,000 lbs when loaded up.
While I'm introducing myself let me tell you a little story about me and my RAM. I live in CT and was headed up North to Killington, VT in a snow storm. My Garmin GPS takes me right to my hotel. Now I'm leaving the hotel heading to the ski mountain following my gps which decides to take me on a shortcut.. As the road became more and more snow covered I never even realized I ended up offroad until I saw snow mobiles crossing in front of me. Oh and let me add my fuel light came on just as I had reached the hotel so I'm pretty sure that it is now just flashing FUEL LOW at this point.. I now have to make a decision, turn around and find some plowed roads and risk running out of gas since I would be back tracking OR continue through the short cut which is basically a snow mobile trail. I really didn't really want to run out of gas and my gps says i'm only a couple miles from a main road so I said you know what I'm in my new truck lets do this. I throw it into 4x4 and head up this long snowy trail goes up the hill just fine. I hit some flats handling the terrain no problem now up another steep hill that my stock snow filled good years barely make it up. Now I head down the hill and what do I come to.. a stream. I'm like you have got to me be kidding me now what do I do. I get out and survey the depth of it and the other side to exit out. I say to myself okay this looks do able.. I dip down into the stream (maybe 6 inches of running water) and the ram muscles over a submerged log and up the steep embankment on the other side which left some minor scuff marks on my front bumper. I was so psyched that I made it thought I didn't even care about the battle scars, went up one more steep snowy hill and his the main road. Once I got to the gas station I somehow put in just over 26 gallons so I must have made it on fumes. But anyway, that was my first offroad experience and it made me want more! See you all around the forum!
