So after 23 hours of flying from Punta Arenas Chile to Pennsylvania today,
I get to see all the stuff I ordered when I was gone.

087.jpg

Only thing missing is the 4 channel HD600 I have to pick up at the post office.
Dual amp kit, Pac Harness, 2 subs, sub box, all jl wires, Recon lights, Their bulbs and Ballasts, (I did pick up the harness from Retroshop..... I'm probly gonna use that.) 2 component sets..Clarion headunit...on and on and on.
I'm gonna be busy for a few days. The recon stuff might end up in a exterior thread. Picture heavy!!

I'll post as many pics as I can in this thread(I see the thread under me has some questions about aftermarket units and PAC..
We'll see how it goes.
The headunit I have looks like a wiring nightmare. but I have an electronics degree so I'll survive.
Oh yeah also this week 100sq ft of second skin damplifier pro comes in..
I'm gonna either skimp on the closed cell foam and MLV or I'll just tear it all apart again someday. Haven't made up my mind yet.
So I plan on taking the entire interior out! Pics to follow!

All that crap is soon going to end up in this beast.

I'll buy the beer if anyone wants to volunteer to help. :cocktail: :puke: Otherwise I'm working solo for however long it takes.

So I finished the sound system last friday...we started on monday and worked 8-10 hours/day.
1.We tore out the entire inside of the truck.
003.jpg
This man's identity will remain anonymous to protect the innocent!!
Stripping it down took maybe 2 hours.

2. Layered in the Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro This was probably the most painstaking time consuming part of the job. I only applied it to the doorskins rear wall and floor of the truck. It does have a smell to it regardless of what people say. Also the edges of the stuff are sharp as hell.
But all that aside when we put the carpet back in the smell was gone, and it seriously quieted down the inside of the truck. I can hardly hear my Nitto 35x12.5x18 Trail Grapplers!
This was all day 1 and 2.

3. Wired in the JL component sets in the doors.

We fished the 12 gauge wires through the door boots easily enough.

I had to make the plate openings about 1/4" bigger with a sanding drum wheel on a drill. For now i'm gonna leave the tweeters where they are, they sound amazing as is but I may move them up the door in the future.

4. Installed the JL 3.5" in the dash.

5. Wired up the Pac Audio Harness to the Clarion plug.
It was pretty straight forward just needed both wiring diagrams and some soder and shrink wrap.
The only issue I'm having is the back up camera coming on when i turn on the engine brake. If anyone has a solution to this one let me know!!!!

6.Fished the RCA's down from the dash to under the seat where i planned on putting the amps. I imagine 6' lengths would be better than the 12' i had but i wasnt certain if I wanted to mount on the rear wall.

7. Carpet goes back in. And amps get test fitted.

In order to fit 2 JL HD amps with the stack kit under the seat i had to cut the air vent for the rear off. (Fine by me anyway as I never ride in the back)

8.013.jpg
Ran the 4gauge ground wire through the floor and installed the JL ground post to the frame under the truck. Ground back and front with an angle grinder, hit it with dielectric terminal grease, then ran to the electrical supply store for some Service entrance compound aka dum dum or monkey ****. covered both sides with that good stuff and blasted with some undercoating.

9. 2 gauge power supply (W/150 amp in line fuse) wire gets run from the secondary battery across the top of the firewall and through the rubber grommet above the clutch. (we just cut that long nipple off the back and shoved it through with some grease....It's def. tight.

10.Fused JL distribution block for power to amps gets put in under drivers seat.
Started on the modding the dash for the double din. (Just did it the same as everyone else.) dremel cut the plastic pillars and hacksawed the metal.

11. The clarion nx702 goes in with bluetooth mic. sirus ant. gps ant. 3 sets of rca's and what seemed like 100 other wires.

If you look you can see the little dish at the top of the dash does clip in now. I later took the sanding drum tool i used for the speaker plates and ground down the screw dimples. Now it sits just like it used to..without the screws of course.

12. Finally the amp connections get made and the subs get wired up and mounted.

All in all the Clarion Nx702 so far is pretty awesome!! It has way more settings and adjustments than it needs. The JL equipment is pretty top notch. Crystal clear at loud volumes...I have set off car alarms driving by!!! The Pac harness is cool except for the engine brake issue, and was simple enough to wire up. I still have steering wheel controls.!

After some thought....I bet there is some connection from the engine brake button to the reverse system....I'm gonna play with the wiring and see if i can find which one it is....I dont know why in the hell they would be connected...As of right now I hit the engine brake coming down hills and the Clarion says there is no video signal...just like it does when i put it in reverse...Next on the list will be the tailgate handle back-up camera....If i dont find it at least I'll be able to watch behind me when i hit the old engine brake...

no problem..I'll get some pics up tomorrow for ya. I was gonna go with plastic..but man i been driving work trucks for years with a plastic floor so I went with the carpet. They are actually really nice! they vacuum out easy, and if something really gets spilled...I just use the old carpet shampooer on it. Gets them looking like new real quick. Mine have literally had mud caked on em and ground in last winter..but they hold up if you take care of em
