Thought I'd post a nice pic of my RAM and some photos of my wifes new Landcruiser.

We got Jackie a Toyota Landcruiser with a 4.5Litre Diesel Twin Turbo v8.

I absolutely hammers !

Jackies car the day we picked it up....

We then drove it straight to aftermarket leather shop:
Black with perforated "Alfa Red".

The landcruiser is probably the biggest (by a bit) 4wd available in Australia. RAM makes it look TINY.

Look great! Pretty sure we don't get the diesel in our country. We're a little behind on the diesels due to the AWESOME GM diesels of the early '80s. People NEVER forget, and those diesels were HORRIBLE! Still, we're getting more and more vehicles with the option.

Nice rides. How common is a RAM in Australia?

Very nice. Love the Longhorn sticker in the back window. I've got one just like it! :peace:

I agree they were terrible motors but the EPA is the reason there are no half ton Diesels. In 2007 Dodge had the Diesel slated for late introduction and full implementation for the 2008 model year with half tons to follow. The EPA changed the exhaust rules and Chrysler had to scrap the plans. Had they come up with it in the early production Dakotas we would be running them now instead of waiting for the 2014 model year. Just my .02 worth.

I have only seen 2 or 3 others. F250's are a little more common as they were sold here till 2006.

Almost everytime I stop to fill it up with diesel, I get people commenting and asking questions/taking photos.

It really is a different sight.

Cars are an interesting topic here... over the past 15 years people whinge A LOT saying everything is too large ...blah, blah, blah. They'd rather we all drove hatchbacks.

But I live north of Melbourne and have literally hundreds of kangaroos around and you DON'T want to hit one of those in a crappy hatchback.

Most people are happy to share their opinion without any hint of knowledge. Jackies Landcruiser gets about 25 Miles per gallon (if my math is correct). Some sedans here couldn't dream of getting that.

Here is the Pickup (ute) I sold once Ram arrived. Its on the bigger (longer) side of what is available here.

Australians LOVE diesels and always have.

This landcruiser wouldn't be worth a pinch of crap as a regular petrol resale.... everyone expects these to be diesel. A HEAP of BMW/Merc cars are sold as diesel as well.

The car dealer tried pushing me towards regular petrol (would NEVER happen), but as I asked him, "How many have you sold"... his reply "None since I have been working here !".

All I know is I REALLY like my Australian made Commodore SS (Pontiac G8). :)

I can imagine the RAM is a site to see there.

The problem we have here with diesels is the price of diesel is higher than gas (petrol) and the cost to buy a diesel vehicle is considerably more as well.

New Commodore is just about to be released now.

New Holden VF Commodore Coming Soon!

Yep! Almost bought one. (Chevrolet SS) but decided to keep the G8, sell my truck and get a RAM as my DD. My G8 has 50,000 miles on it and is in pristine condition. No need to replace it. It was also only brought in here for 2 years in limited quantities which means, COLLECTOR CAR. :love62:

Do they sell the HSV's there ?

HSV Gen-F / GTS

They are, I guess what AMG is to Merc. Holdens factory tuning house. VERY popular here. Takes the SS to the next level.

No sir, but some make their cars to look like them. We have a contact in AU that sells us parts at a reasonable cost.

I'll be modding mine soon for MORE POWER! :emotions36: Just need my RAM to come in...

If you need anything sent out or researched, feel free to ask me. My cousin works for GM and though can't get me discounts can get me answers from the guys who made them... my cousin actually helped design the aero on new Camero.
