I second the bone yard part. Get a genuine OEM tailgate. If you have the time, you maybe able to find one in your color. I did that with a GMC hood. They were everywhere, just waited till I found one in white which was the color of the truck and the whole job was EZ-peezy.

The problem with used around here is they are usually well on their way rust wise and they want at least $200 for a decent one.

I'd rather spend the extra couple of bucks and have brand new with the correct colour.

There was a review or critique that said the aftermarket ones were cheap metal and lighter, I weighed both my old one and the replacement and they were identical in weight.
