Hemi 5.7
I have a 2014 Laramie Hemi 5.7 with 113,000 miles. My son has a 2019 ford f150 6 cyl turbo boost. You couldn't give me the f150. I have not had any major problem. He has had many. The build quality of the Ram is much better. And it's a Hemi !!. There ain't nothin' like a Hemi.

Had a 95, which is different motor, 2005, hemi, great, but 2wd, traded on 2009 1500 Loaded, loved that , only exp, oil, tires, till a chev guy with phone in his hand rammed it, Bought a new 14 sport, loaded, 8 speed, 3.9 gears, that has great mileage, auto 4wd , need that this time of year, 0 problems, other than junk GY tires that came on it. I have never had a tick, gasket problem, about 80 Km on it now. 2009 had 120km when it got wrecked, 2005 had 100km.Had not thought about trading, till I seen the 2009 Laramie I fellow just traded in, Blk. loaded with everything, service pack, never needed, other than the free oil. That was a great truck, but the 14 is better.
I like the dial shifter O.K., have to look at it sometimes. I programmed in the auto park, but may undo that , if you use a trailer it can be a problem.
miss the shift lever to rest my hand on.
Guess the last time I had a problem, was the transmission on a 92 ford range work truck, but it was a auction deal , cheap dog truck. I don't have heated back seat in the last 2 , so the poor dog had to make do with out it.

Well, I was a GM guy for many years and decided to purchase my first RAM truck in 2013 ... Bought the Longhorn version ... Had a defective battery in it but they replaced it under warranty ... Then bought a 2017 Longhorn and had a transmission issue of a faulty Valve body which was covered under warranty .. Now on my 3'rd Longhorn (2020) and no issues (so far) ...
The Chevy truck styling that was coming out was no longer appealing to me so I went to the RAM ... I love the ride (with the air suspension) and the Hemi can get you in trouble if not paying attention to the speedometer ... I had a very slight hemi tick in my 2017 when idling , but it didn't affect the performance of the truck, but then again I don't go off-roading, they are my personal daily driver and not used for work purposes, and I've only used the truck for towing a 20' boat ... Oh, and I love the new style tailgate on my 2020 ...
Just my 2 cents of my personal experience .. Good luck in your search ...

POTENTIAL NEW RAM OWNER. LOOKING AT A 2017 / 2018 RAM. HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY OWNED A RAM
HAVE READ SOME GREAT REVIEWS ON THIS TRUCK. WANTED TO ASK ACTUAL OWNERS FOR REVIEWS AND ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE HAD.

THANK YOU !!!
I was previously loyal to GM vehicles. Owned Chevy, Oldsmobiles, and Buick’s. Bought my first Ram 1500 and no problems yet, other than a squealing noise when going in reverse. Was told it might be brake pads. It’s a 2014 Crew Cab with about 56k miles on it. I mainly bought it because I think the 4th gen Rams are the best looking trucks on the market (other than special edition Silverados and Sierras). But it’s been fun turning my Express into the machine I want it to be.

First Ram for me, 2018 BigHorn 4X4 CC V6. Purchased certified preowned, my first full sized truck. Cruise control switch on steering wheel was replaced under warranty. At 40k that was my only issue. Love my Ram! Good looking truck, rides great, well equipped, fit and finish are outstanding. Pre Covid prices on used trucks were low and the V6 was absolutely a steal when I purchased mine. I don’t tow, don’t care about the hemi thrill factor or my 0-60 time. My only advice is buy for your needs. The 8 speed transmission masks the V6 lack of torque quite well but if you need a truck to actually do work buy the hemi. I use my truck as a utility vehicle mainly commuting, hauling and off the beaten path hiking trips. If you need 4 wheel drive be careful which model 4X4 system you get. Maintenance on the V6 Ram is pretty easy and inexpensive aside from the transmission. Highly recommend the Ram brand.
