Hey All, I've done some research on here about ERP issues. I'm pretty confident I will need to replace mine on my 2017 Ram 1500. Before I do, I have a few questions about this.

1) On a scale of 1 to 10, what is the difficulty of replacing this yourself? I consider myself fairly mechanical, replacing my brakes, oil changes, starter, spark plugs, other odds and ends.
2) Does this need any type of programming following the install? Obviously know I will need alignment, but I don't have a programming tool.
3) I see there is a Mopar part available right now on Rock Auto with the part number being 68256617AA. This is a different part number than what the dealership gave me. Will this still fit?

Any other advice you have before I tackle this project will be great!

Thanks,
Chris

It's EPS.

About a 3. It would be a 2, but it's kinda heavy. It's a 1 if you have help, a lift and the right tools.

Not if you use a new, OEM Mopar unit.

The one from RockAuto is OEM Mopar, and will (should} work but 68628858AA is the latest revision.

There's about a million different part#s. Mopar is nuts with their part numbering system.

Don't use aftermarket. 2 aftermarket units, a warranty fight, then an OEM one anyway, are NOT cheaper than just buying one OEM unit from the start.

Thanks,
Chris

Your welcome.

I really appreciate that information. One last question/confirmation... Does your link you gave me for the rack and pinion come with the outer tie rods? I will be changing these as well. Ive seen where in some instances in videos, it comes with it. Just trying to avoid a duplicate order.

Thanks again!

That's where I ordered mine and it did come with them.

However, Its been awhile and of course, I'm not in a position to guarantee what they may or may not send.

You could ask Benny for a quote, and he will be able to answer all your questions.

Send a PM to @AllMoparParts.com and include your VIN.
