Hello and thanks for reading. A few days ago I came home to my husband finishing up replacing the headlights on my truck. I bought it in May and had noticed that the headlights were very dim and had been complaining about it for a while. He bought these 9007s and installed them to surprise me, but they have made things worse. Now the regular low beams are even more dull, and the high beam indicator stays on. I have searched the internet and it seems that Dodge had the non sports wired differently or something? My husband has already tossed the old headlights, so can someone explain to me an easy way to get these headlights to work correctly? We work on our own cars, in fact I tuned it up myself a few months ago. However, I know next to nothing about electrical stuff so any help would be appreciated! These high beams are too bright to use all the time without blinding other drivers and the low beams are like not having lights at all. I thought there was a way to rewire it to work if someone can explain it in a way I might understand?! This is my daily driver so I need to figure out soon! Thanks! It is a 2001 quad cab Lariat 5.9 if you need to know any of that. No alternator issues, good voltage too.

Welcome to RF

Nice of him to do this for you but he got the wrong bulb. You need 9004's for the non-sport headlights. 9007's are not meant to fit into the 9004 housings and the wiring is different. I do not suggest modding the housing to take the 9007 bulbs.

The quad bulb or sport headlight uses both 9007 and 9004, 9007 for the outer bulbs and 9004 for the inner bulbs.

Yup, as Merc said you need the 9004 bulbs. Or you could do the sport head light upgrade if you wished.

Thanks guys, he won't like that answer but at least we don't have to mess with the wiring. I just imagine to truck catching fire, lol! I will be back to pick everyone's brains about tranny issues soon.

I would suggest you look at the 9004 PIAA headlight bulbs, not cheap but great light output.
