Need help

My gas cap indicator and check engine light is on. I have repositioned my gas cap several times, but the indicator won't go off

It's a hard code that needs to be Reset.

Ok, with my Dakota all I had to do was reposition the gas cap, so I will reset the code...Thanks

Is re setting the code something i can do, or must a technician do it.

Not sure about your specific truck, but I have disconnected the positive battery cable and waited 5-10 minutes on some vehicles I have owned in the past. This has reset and cleared the code for me.
