Hello,
Picking up tuesday new '18 2500 6.4 hemi 4x4 4.10 gears regular cab and 8 foot bed. I have a WDH but think this new truck should handle my loaded wet 6,000 pound trailer fine without the WDH. Hitch weight is about 550 lbs. Your opinions please. Thanks

David

550 lb hitch weight seems awfully low for a 6Klb trailer. That’s under 10%. Is that an actual measured weight, or published weight?

Published and I think probably very accurate. I don't carry heavy weights when I pull my travel trailer. Bed of the truck will have probably 500 or 600 pounds of gear in it. Thanks.

You have a class V receiver on it already. I don’t see a need for the WDH on this truck as long as trailer has electric brakes.
How big is the trailer? 6K is nothing on that truck.

It depends. My trailer is 6k. Typically you want 12-15%tongue weight for a stable tow. When going on a long highway trip I'll use it. If just going to local campground, last trip I didn't and it was fine. It does slop around more with the adapter sleeve and no wdh though.

The published weight is a “dry” weight for most manufacturers. Once you add batteries and propane that weight goes up fast, especially if it’s 2 batteries and 2 tanks. Mine claims 670, but measured when loaded is in the 940-970 range, depending on what I have in the pass through.
