I recently got A/T tires that stick out about an inch or two past the fender. Photos and more details here:

But I’ve driven over gravel a few times and my own driveway is gravel too. After being in gravel or pulling out of my driveway I can hear rocks being thrown for a bit afterwards, especially once I get on the highway. My biggest concern is the potential for hitting other cars or breaking a windshield. Is this a legitimate concern? Are fender flares my only real option to prevent that from happening?
I’m honestly not a huge fan of fender flares but I may go that route if that’s my only option. But I figured I’d ask for advice before I did that. I’d rather do fender flares than change tire size at this point.
