Hey there, I am new here and a first time Ram owner. I just picked up a 2013 Big Horn and have a question about the headlights. I was showing a buddy at work my new ride and he questioned as to why I didnt have the new projector style lights, I honestly didnt even know until I looked at the Ram brochure that that was even available. I guess my question is, why would they not put them on all 13's? I love the truck regardless, just a question.

I dont think its a base model, Its a Big Horn, has the dual exhaust and step rails and all the chrome. I assume its a little more than just a base model.

I believe the projector headlights are only on the Sport and Laramie models.

Bingo.

Sports get the black ones, laramies get the chrome ones.

Just a want to keep costs down........by not having them on all of the '13s.

Hmmm not sure if I am disappointed or happy. I actually think they look a bit out of place on a Ram, but it would be nice to have them.

The more I see 'em.......the more I like 'em.

Soon, they'll be on my truck, with a "few" custom touches..... (haha)

Will the '13 projector assemblies fit a 2011, or have there been small chassis/panel tweaks?

They will physically fit, but the wiring is totally different.

I called today to see if the plug is available.......no dice. So, looks like that will have to be hard wired in.

Should be easy as pie once each wire is identified. Buy a connector kit at NAPA and you're singing.

NAPA will not have the proprietary plug that these lights take.

Well there won't be a specific match. You'll have to get rid of the connector on the headlight and those from your wiring harness, replacing each with a male/female connector set.

JJ is the headlight guru. If anyone can make it work it will be him.

Welcome to rf and congrats on the new truck. The 2013 projectors are just halogen so you can get a lot better

Good to know, I am considering an upgrade now that I know it is an option. I would appreciate any leads on where to start looking. Thanks everyone.

I'd buy the kit from you if you can make this happen. Did you check out the tail lights yet?

Well, sure.........anyone can cut and splice wires - not the end result I'm wanting.

Odd that earlier this morning I spent some time with my guy at the parts department looking for this connector. If I could get my hands on them, I can get a full plug n play setup......but......no dice right now. So, its going to have to be the cheesy way for now.

I'll tell you guys what I have in the works..........

As noted, the 2013 Ram projector lights are halogen. I'm not going to rock halogens.............. :893MrT-thumb:

So, I ripped one open, sent it to a supplier of mine and we are making plates to mate the internals of the light to a REAL hid projector. When its done, it will be seamless (won't be able to tell from the front that I've changed anything), but you fire it up and its on like donkey kong. :mfr_omg:

Of course, mine will get the RetroShop treatment, full custom paint and all that jazz. If I can get the plates in soon, I'm hoping to have these done in the next few weeks. :fishing1:
