Hey guys. I've been lurking awhile and decided to go ahead and join. I'm the proud owner of a red 2013 Ram quad cab Express. I love the truck. Not much done to it. Just got the windows tinted, some weathertech floor mats front and rear and the weathertech bed liner. Also put a Mufflex muffler on it. Other than that I don't plan on doing too much to it right now. I only have one complaint with the truck and that's the brakes. It only has 5000 miles on it but they squeal like an old piece of junk. I don't drive hard or brake hard so I'm not sure what that's about. Just wanted to say hey to everyone. Hope to learn a lot here.

Welcome.

Very strange about the brake squeal. Try hosing the brakes down with a garden hose. Try and spray inside the wheel as well to get inside the dust / splash covers. Particularly on the fronts.

Squeal is often caused by brake dust, and it develops most when new pads are "bedding in".

Vehicle manufacturers go a long way towards making sure factory parts are quiet, wear well and perform up to strict standards.

I assume you bought the truck new, and not second hand? Just want to make sure we are talking about factory pads, not some cheapo aftermarket jobbies that may have been slapped on there by a car lot before re-selling it.

Sounds silly, but give them a quick hose down. I bet that cures it.

Pop the calipers open and hit the pads with some sand paper to smooth em out, then spay with some brake cleaner. Itll take you longer to jack up the truck and remove the tires than to actually do the work.

I'll try both of those ideas. I bought it new and the dealer told me to spray them with a pressure washer so i may try that when and if it ever warms up
