I think I've finally saved enough to get some new headlights. I want the dual helo with the LED bar and drop in plug and play lights in the blacked out.

I'm hoping some one will jump in with a name and a place where I can get them.

Sorry to say but florescent halos will not be plug and play if you want to be able to run just the rings as your parking lights.

Right along with what JJ said.
Save up more pennies, get something worth having the first time around.

Also wanted to say, don't consider the Spec-D halo headlights... They may seem cool for a short while, but over time, you will start to hate them. They are one of the lowest quality brands for aftermarket headlights, especially halos. Since headlights play such an important role in the truck, go ahead and spend the money for some real HID halos. I have the Spyders which is about one notch nicer than the Spec-Ds and I wish I would have run my OEM housing with 6k HIDs and just blacked the housing with led switchbacks. I don't totally regret my buy on my halos, but really any of the Recon, SpecD, Spyder, my buddy has some called Eagle or something like that lol, all of them have below par light throw and brightness. Hope that helps point you in a better direction.

6K HID's actually did pretty good in the Spec-D's. The hi-beams were a mistake though. I had to modify them to work with the HID type bulb. It was the ground bar than runs along the bottom of the bulb.

The lo beams were tight.... but did work without modification.

here's a couple of pictures. One is the Spec-D with HID's and the other is the Morimoto M1's in my new set-up.

No fogs in either picture. The projectors are aimed better now, so they don't have a slight slant anymore.

I have to say, that does look great. I guess you had a better experience with the Spec-Ds than anyone I know

The halogens did suck. Even though it said halogen only..... the HID's did a pretty decent job in there.

I'll call a spade, a spade. They're not of the quality of what JJ did, but they were alright on lo-beam. Your only using 1/2 the projector on lo-beam with either projector.

Also I have to consider where I have to drive, and how little daylight I get this far north in the winter. I've hit my share of Deer.... so lighting is pretty high up in the must have scale.

The hi-beam was not good at all. The projector shutter in the lo-beam does not drop like the Morimoto HID projectors. The low HID's over powered the halogen hi-beams. The HID's in the hi's didn't center up and didn't make much difference.

If you never drive at night out in the country side... the Spec-D's do look pretty sharp and with HID's in the lows, do an ok job. Another nice thing is Everyone else has Spyder and Recons, so it is a bit different. Price is in line with the others.

Depends what your looking for or what you use your truck for. $$$ is another factor. I liked them, and if I didn't use my truck to get to remote job sites.... I would just left them in there how I had them.

Here's a shot of the Spec-D on highs with HID's against the Retroshop creation.

This is all 4 quads firing all on 6K HID's. JJ's are like a wall of light...lol

Not knocking them, I just posted the pictures to give the OP and idea of what to expect out of them.

JJ's might seem expensive, but the difference is pretty dramatic.

I don't know if these are branded Spyder or Recon, but they're the same light. They're better than Spec-D, but you're really comparing one **** to another.
I've shopped a LOT for aftermarket headlights and taillights and found several Recon models that are the same as Spyder, but substantially higher priced.
Ultimately, there is no cheap, high-quality option for headlights. You either pay big bucks for the good stuff, take days (or weeks) to retro your own or you buy crap like Recon, Spyder, Spec-D.
