I finally got around to buying a heated steering wheel; I found a new one, part # 5NH65DX9AA, from the MOPAR store on Amazon, well it showed up a couple of days ago and surprised me with having two plugs on the wiring, a white one which is what is usually seen on the wheels that have the coverings installed and a black plug that I haven't seen before. Does anyone know what the black plug is for? A different vehicle, perhaps?

Two powers two grounds I Beleive. When I got my carbon fiber wheel I had to re wire it to work with the factory system.
That makes sense; I pulled the tape back a little from the plugs, and the wire colors going into each plug are the same. So, as a follow-up question, when looking at part diagrams, it seems as if there are horn buttons and a steering harness that has the NHS "heated wheel" build code. I assume I will need those as well, then?

@Brandon-w I just purchased a carbon fiber heated wheel too. Did you buy the factory connectors for the steering wheel? I didn't realize it would come without connectors so now I need to either try and find the factory connectors or splice in a "normal" connector, but that would mean also modifying the truck side which would not be my preference. It's also a heated wheel and my old one wasn't.

I have a worn out stock heated wheel….it has the connectors and wiring you could cannibalize…as far as I know it still works well….just the leather is worn through in a few spots

I just cut and soldered the old wheel wire to the carbon one.

Thanks for the reply! 12Ram2500 hooked me up, now I'm just trying to figure out how I've got 4 wires coming from the wheel (2 larger and 2 very small) and only 2 wires in a white connector on the vehicle side. Seems like I'm missing a connector, so maybe I need a different harness? Trying to research that now...

See post #4. I believe this what you're finding . . .

Yes, two power and two ground…..The white plug connects to the dash harness coming up the column, the small black plug connects to the steering wheel harness….e.g. you probably need the proper steering wheel harness to make it work.

Yep, for reference (for anyone else) I finally found a listed part number in the ginormous "How to Add Heated/Ventelated seats and Heated Wheel to Express/Tradesman" thread, posts #1102 and #2042. Unfortunately, it's not a cheap one (of course). Part number listed was 68163716AC, or 68163716-AC. Costs almost as much as the driver's seat I just picked up from a 2017 Laramie off car-part (cost me $175, which I think was a pretty good deal). Thanks for everyone's help!

Yeah connect two to one on the white connector. I connected the two big wires to the power wire feed on the plug and the two smaller wires to the negative on the plug. It works perfectly for over a year now no issues.
