Ok, I'll admit I'm not experienced in this area. What is the big deal with the huge fuel tanks? I just don't understand. I usually have to urinate well before I ever run out of fuel and having extra fuel, more weight etc. just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Help Me understand by offering up something I can wrap my head around?

I travel by truck extensively, 25k or more per year. I pull a trailer, but have never needed more than the 26 gallon tank across multiple ram platforms.

Thanks for all insights
Easy to explain. Towing my 7600# travel trailer with my 6.4/8 speed I get 8 MPG on a good day (9.6 best ever with a tail wind) and sometimemmuch worse. I generally have to stop for gas at about 150 miles. If I'm on the interstates that's no big deal. But out west and on lesser roads it can be nessecsary to carefully plan my stops and there can be a lot of range anxiety at times. One time in nowhere Kansas, I reached my planned stop only to find the gas station closed. Had to back track 20 miles. That said, $2,800 is more than I want to pay. I'm considering a transfer tank in the bed. A transfer tank could do double duty as emergency gas when pulling the camper and fueling my snowmobile in the winter.

Would this work in a ram megacab with the short bed ?

Does it have baffles to control sloshing ?

If it is made in North America, I could stomach the price, but not if it is made in China.

Transfer Flow tanks are all made in California. All of the ones I've seen do include baffles, but I can't specifically say whether or not this one does. I would assume so based on all their other work.

Having a bigger tank allows you to choose your fuel stops rather than being range forced to find fuel. In my 3500 the stock 32 and my cab over camper would put me short of fuel between Albuquerque and Amarillo. The little towns outside those major cities were pretty pricey on fuel. Switching to a 55 Gal titan replacement tank allows easy 450 mile range (compared to sub 300) so I can better choose my fuel stops. For instance on a trip I fueled in Gallup as that was the cheapest fuel on my trip to Durango. Didn't fuel again until I got back to Gallup. Saved around 10 cents per gallon on that trip. Did same thing on a Trip to Grand Canyon North rim, fueled on Flagstaff for that trip.

I received this today.
I put the Sales Rep Contact from the email below since they want feedback.

Good morning,

Thank you for your continued interest in our Ram Gas replacement tank project. Transfer Flow is currently in the prototype phase and has reached a key decision point. To move forward, we would greatly appreciate your feedback.

At this stage, the tank is designed to hold 44 gallons. While we initially hoped to offer a larger capacity, available space has limited our options. Gas systems are also more expensive than diesel systems due to their complexity, which includes specialized fuel lines, extra emissions canisters, and the need for extensive testing.

To help guide our next steps, we kindly ask for your input on the following:

  1. The estimated retail cost of the currently designed 44-gallon tank is $2800. Would you be willing to invest this amount to increase your fuel capacity by 13 gallons?
  2. We are also considering increasing the tank's height to bring the capacity to approximately 50 gallons. Adding height requires a larger sending unit and adds approximately $400 to the total cost. Would this option be of interest to you?
We value your insight and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Your feedback is instrumental in helping us move the project forward.

Please respond directly to this email.

Warm regards,

Teri Barry

You can’t put a $ value on piece of mind. Already have the 33 gallon tank on my 2016 1500 Hemi - it was nice to have the buffer driving to and from Alaska via Southern California from the mid Atlantic region. While I may feel comfortable with this, and do, the folks who tow or need to be in the way back for an extended period can justify this, with ease.

BigSkyRoadGlide: I have a 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. It comes with a 31 gallon tank. There is no upgrade available from RAM. For my purposes, off road, remote places with no cell coverage, no gas stations, no electricity, at 12 MPG, its just too small. I carry two 20 liter NATO (= 11 gallons). And I'm glad I do. I came out of the North Maine Woods at the end of the day with about a third of a tank and planned to gas up in the morning. Unfortunately, the power was out in the morning so the closest gas station with power was about 30 miles out of the way (60 mile round trip). We ended up using the jerry cans and all but about 2-3 gallons that day, but I didn't have to waste 1.5 hours gassing up. I'd definitely love to have an extra 9 gallons. Given the cost of installation on top, I'd probably opt for a 50 gallon take for the extra $400. That's only $40/gal. Really, I just wish RAM would offer a 40-50 gallon tank option on the Power Wagon.

If there is a 50 Gallon option, I'd be interested.

I wouldn't do it for the 44 but would certainly consider it for the 50! Would be nice to not have to bother with gas cans for the extra range when off roading long long distances!!

2018 31 gallon Power Wagon owner, too! Ditto on your comments.
Towing sucks, barely make it to the next station sometimes.
So, am I to understand this will fit the Ram 2500 6.5’ bed?

theres bigger tank options, with half the cost and fits like oem. this is something that doesnt really seem cost effective.

i went a whole different route and installed a titan sidekick 15 gallon tank in the bed of my truck. it has saved me a few times. easy to fill and easy to transfer to my main 32 gallon tank. it gives me 47 gallons of fuel . it might not be the answer for everyone but for me i would do it again.

I have the stock tank in my 2500. Although I have to stop more often with the Mrs. during road trips, I miss the bigger tanks.

For gas engines? Have a link? I haven't found anything other than in bed transfer tanks...

In California, before 2016, you could use a Large Transfer Tank in a Gas powered vehicle.
The California Rule was that a direct fuel line could not connect the Transfer Tank to the Main tank of the vehicle.
In other words, a fuel line with a On/Off valve could not be used.
That is why i had Fuel Nozzle, similar to the ones at a gas station on my Aux.tank

Using that, was legal, at least at that time period

By the way, there is a company that makes large Under Bed Fuel Tanks
They have been in business for years

they are

Not for every Ram
4 X 4s mostly
maybe a Height Issue ??

Titan Fuel Tanks are made in Idaho
-------------------------------------------------------------

S & B Tanks for Ram trucks with Cummins engine, replacement fuel tank
Made in Fontana, Calif.

I checked for my 2018 2500, only tanks for diesel are available. :(
