new mega owner

Well Boys and Girls, it is official. We just signed the papers on a 06 Mega 1500 4x4. I don't have pics yet, the dealership is still doing a few things like detailing the truck. It is a bit rougher then what I wanted, but I wanted a project anyway.

So my plans are kind of mod & resto on it. The interior is rough, the drivers seat needs to be replaced. But I will be putting a leather interior into. Probably use someone like leatherseats.com but not sure yet. The bed is not bad, someone rattle canned it. It does have some minor rust above the rear wheel well. The good news is the front fenders and rockers are rust free inside and out. The paint on the cab is good.

Funny to see a 1500 with 8 bolts wheel caps... As it been modded with a solid axle up front?

I would run the VIN to see if this is the original truck configuration and model...

Mega cabs are built on the 2500 frame with a solid front axle.

The frame and drive train is why i got her. If that would have a regular 1500 i would have walked away. But megas are rare up here even in 4th gens. I am hoping by the end of the year to have the exterior looking good.

So i am loving the truck. However i have run into every 3rd problem. Blend doors. Wandering steering. Fender rust (only on rear wheel well) broken fog. Trans is good.

Here is some nice *****. She has brand new bfg at ko2s today. The exhaust will be removed and dumped infront of the rear pass tire. Like the old lightnings

Welcome to the Mega club the wandering is best solved by a front end rebuild balljoints tierods, draglink check wheel bearings. did mine front end complete including wheel bearings and all moving parts accept the control arm steers like new no wondering. And it is totaly a DIY if you have the patients.
