I compared the one piece plastic pan and integrated filter 68233701AA with the metal pan 68362041AC with replaceable filter 68417054AB and they look dimensionally the same. If the metal pan and replaceable filter bolts up, I will go with that. Just ordered 7 quarts of ZF Lifeguard 8 at $13.70 each. I don't see a need to go with anything else at that price.
Where did you get them for $13.70 each?

Does any of those pan swap kits/things come with a dipstick?
Does anyone make a kit to where there is one to be added?

The Germans over engineer everything. Thry had a transmission that didn’t have a separate fill plug. You filled the transmission from the bottom drain plug. It was some kind of tube within a tube setup. When the fluid reached the top of the inside tube, it overflowed to the outside tube which indicated the transmission was full. Now, with the transmission full and fluid dripping all over you, you had to reach for the drain plug while taking your fluid fill hose out and even more fluid raining on you, thread the drain plug in. If you drop the plug, you waste a ton of expensive fluid. Why does it have to be this hard?

Is it their blood?

During WWII the German Tiger tank was strong and powerful. Unfortunately it was also unreliable, too heavy, and terrible for battlefield maintenance and repairs. The lowly M4 Sherman burning gasoline and an underpower gun (early versions) often bested German amour tactics in combat.

When I do mine I will look into adding a sight tube for level and mark level needed with truck sitting level like I have for my Atlas transfer case in my Jeep

Not sure what you'd accomplish with a stand off sight tube, other then have something to break off the side of the pan,and leak. The heavy dutiest pan you can buy is the PPE aluminium pan,and techinically you could use the temperature port to add a sight tube to,but the 8 speed doesn't really have a rep of leaking fluid, and once it's properly filled, there's not much point in constantly checking the fluid level,as it doesn't really change between services.Personally on paper it sounds like a good idea, but in the real world,i'm not sure if the function will offset the hazards
