Parents just brought home a new 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. It has the Cummins diesel, and is fully loaded. So many toys! It has already has a 5" lift put on with 35" Nitto Trails put on it. Still working on learning everything about it, any tips and tricks to these 4th gens? Anything at all? I'll be posting any and all questions from my stepdad for him.

Soon to come:
Black Bumpers and grille
Tint
Nerf Bars
Tuner
Intake
Exhaust
(list may grow depending on a few things)

I probably drive it more than he does at this point. Haha. Love how everything seems so small with the lift.

Holy ****! That's the nicest brand new CTD I've ever seen! Damn amazing!

Thanks! Haha. I'm hoping he does a couple things to it. I know the chrome is going for sure. My photoshop convinced him, and well, the paint is "free".

Very sexy sir! Love me some ctd

Thanks! Haha.

Fuel has to be super clean! I would only use a 2-3 micron fuel filter and a quality name brand like fleetguard, donaldson, etc... No NAPA or cheapy filters! I know stock is 10 micron but 2-3 micron is much better protection.

Common rail fuel systems (5.9L or 6.7L) are known to wipe out engine because of failed injectors. When a injector hang open it will wash out the rings with diesel fuel and fill the crankcase with fuel too.

DPF have to go through regen to clean out the filter. So what occurs is during regen the injectors are firing during the exhaust stroke to keep the exhaust fire burning down the exhaust pipe to the DPF to reach EGT's of 1,000*F or more! Be aware if you truck request regen drive the trash out of it. Seriously. Most people yank that smog junk off.

Becareful of Biodiesel with these truck because of the regen mode its possible to push biodiesel in the crankcase and ruin the bearings.

As for power mods becareful there are some that are pressure adders that will build up more rail pressure than what the injectors are rated for and **** it will split a injector open like cord wood...

But my first suggest is gauges, gauges, gauges...

Fuel filtration... Is my second...

Maybe a fuel system like Airdog / FASS after that...

Don't do any tuner till you fix all the weak spots first or you'll regret it...

Haha. Awesome. This is one of two trucks in the nation that is a monotone Laramie 2500. The rest have the gold lower section. All decked out is the only way to go!

Sounds good to me! Haha. You'll get to see the more work they do when they paint the bumpers and grille on this one! Hopefully he does it soon. Yay for color matched. Lol

Exhaust brake is hands down the coolest feature lol
The truck needs the **** beat out of it every once in awhile if your not constantly working it
I second the fuel filtration as well, especially if your planning on any significant performance mods
I'm go. A push the h&s tuners some more lol, if you invest in a mini maxx or black maxx now they can monitor all of the parameters(gauges mopar man recomended) and will give you a head start for when you eventually yank the emissions garbage (all you need after the tuner is to install the delete pipe and change the tune)

That's one awesome truck that's for sure! I love how even a small lift looks huge on the 2500s. I bet the sticker was through the roof on that bad boy though. :D

Thanks man! Yeah, the 5" lift is huge. I literally jump in and out of the truck. The sticker wasn't bad at all. Although, I have nothing to compare it to. My parents work with dealerships for a living, and always have, Got a great deal.
