Hey guys ram newb here. Just bought a 2012 5.7 crew cab big horn with 12k on it. Coming from a 99 s10 it's quite a jump. Love the truck. It has great power but has very slow throttle response. Just wondering what kind of mods a novice could do that are not terribly expensive. Thanks for the replies.

Best bang for buck is a tuner. If its gonna be your daily driver, then I would get the tuner and call it a day. But it really boils down to your definition of what ''terribly expensive'' means. :)
There are a lot of mods you can do for a reasonable amount of money, but none in that price range will alter the truck as much as a tuner. Ive been though this with many trucks. One of my current vehicles is a 2012 RT. I started my modding journey by adding every bolt on available to it. And unless you are modding it just for your pleasure, I would stop with the tuner.

This is simply my advice based upon my own personal experience on the subject.

I wish you luck no matter what you decide. I hope you continue to enjoy your truck. Im still as happy with mine as i was the day I drove it off the lot.

Tuner X2. It's the only mod I went out of the way for so far and am happy I did.

Sent from this thing in my hand

Thanks, which tuner would you recommend.

Welcome and congrats! +1 on the tuner. Bullydog for good canned tunes and Diablosport for Hemifever tune. Both will help ALOT with throttle response.

I'm new to the Ram world myself, but had a Challenger previously. The Trinity offers the ability to do custom tuning when/if you ever decide to go to that level.

In that world, there weren't any other options unless you used a CMR dealer. I haven't read up on all the details of the other Ram tuners (BullyDog, etc), but it's my basic understanding the Trinity offers the most advanced features.

Saweet!! Bet a new transmission won't be far behind after putting one of these in.

Good luck with the mods OP!

Yeah, it'd be a good idea to budget in some money to build/strengthen the existing so you don't tear it up.

I have the Diablosport InTune, with a custom tune. The Trinity has a few extra options that i didn't need at the time, and is quite a bit more expensive. So i chose the InTune. Im still happy with the choice.
