So I threw on the stock wheels for the winter yesterday. I put 35/12.50/20 mud grapplers on them. I have a 6" BDS lift with bilsteins set 2.1. I had to use a 1/2" spacer to clear, its close but they fit and no rubbing at all. I wouldn't go any smaller. I looked around about using an adapter but just wasn"t comfortable, half the people say they are fine the other half said they would never run them, so I went with the spacer and all is good.

I'm surprised you had to use spacers. Your other much larger tires didn't require them so what's he issue with the stock rims? Am I going to run into the same situation when I put my original size rims and tires back on for the winter? My truck runs a similar set up to yours...

I'm pretty sure it's the backspacing that makes a difference on the stock wheels to the non stock wheels. Since the stock are pulled further in, they rub on turns.

Th problem is the offset of the rims, the 22's have an offset of -24 which push them away from the truck. I can almost fit my hand flat in between the tire and steering knuckle. I do not know exactally what the offset of the stock wheel is , i think it might be +18 which pulls them into the truck. I knew I was gonna need something I just didnt know how big, some people told me I needed atleast an 1 1/2". If you have the same rim as mine and plan on running 35's then yes you will need a spacer. I do not have much room between the tire and steering knuckle, but also the mud grapplers have a large sidewall. If you put on an all terrain tire you might be able to get away with a 1/4" spacer, but you won't need anything larger then 1/2"

hey guys its my first winter with this truck and the wheels/tire set up..
i got 33x12.50x17 mickey thompson MTZ and mickey classic rims, i plasti dip my rims to protect them from the salt and what now but im worried the tires and gonna suck with every day driving.. im sure thick snow they will be great but the ice i think it a hole different ball game.. so i may just put some winter tires on my 20s for the winter but dont want to if i dont half too :p

just want to know who runs bigger tires during the winter and get some feed back??
