I'm about due for some new tires. The 275/65/20 Terra Grapplers I have right now have served me alright. They've been on since a little over 20K, so about 60K or a little over that. I haven't been the happiest with them in wet weather and snow, they did ok, but I've had much better tires in the past. My choices have been narrowed to two, which are pretty different.

First choice - Falken Wildpeak ATW3s, in 275/60/20 size. My reasoning for this is, they're lighter than what I have now, they shouldn't look too much smaller, I've read great reviews on them, they're significantly cheaper than my second choice (half the price). My only concern with this specific choice is the traction. I'd like to be able to grip a little better in 2WD on a launch with the higher stall and 4.10s, rather than putting it in 4WD. The TGs I have now, there's no chance.

Second choice - Nitto Terra Grappler's in 305/55/20 size. With my wheels, I'm pretty sure they'll fit with no spacer required. I know I said I wasn't the happiest with the TGs, but I'm thinking the wider tire will do better in the poorer weather than the 275s did. They're about the same weight as the Wildpeaks, about 49 lbs. Again, I'm looking for better traction on a launch in 2WD and I'd assume a 305 tire would accomplish that. I just don't know if paying double the price compared to the Wildpeaks is worth it, and maybe they won't fix the traction issue like I'm hoping anyway.

Any input is appreciated, maybe you have a better suggestion. I don't do any off-roading, but like to see what the truck can do in the snow when we get it. I'm looking to lighten the resistance to help acceleration a little more, I don't need large tires, just enough to fill wheel well a good bit. Thanks!

Wider will be worse in wet and snowy conditions.

Go eith the winter rated ATWs if those are yoir only choices.

As for traction on launch, you'll not see much improvement from wider on ATs.

They're not my only choice, but for the price and reviews, they seem like a good one.

Understood.

These are simply both tires I have experience with, and both are great tires.

Anyone have any lighter AT suggestions? I think the Falken's are what I will end up with, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I had the Terra Grapplers on for about 50k, when I went to the 295/65-20 just over the 35" tall tire I went Ridge Grapplers and Im very very happy with them so far for 10k

Haven't had, but if I were going for an at tire, I would be getting the falkens. Haven't heard anything negative about them.
