Hey fellas,

I have a 2015 ram 1500 bighorn with 160,000 miles on it. It came with the 20 inch wheels. 275-60-R20

I replace some of the rear end components and plan on replacing the rear control arms, track bar & links with the CORE Track series kit.

I’ll be replacing most of the front end components on the truck.

When I had the last set of tires installed I had a shimmy. I brought it back to the garage and he said one of my wheels is not right.

So I’ve decided to bite the bullet and get a new set of 20 inch wheels and Nikko Terra Grappler G3 tires.

Who have you fellas ordered from in the past? Wheels and tires?

Thanks for any helpful information!

Typically I just lurk marketplace to get what I want on the cheap. If I would of to buy new I would probly use customoffsets.com. I've never bought wheels from them but I have bought a couple sets of tires and it went well enough.

My first set was Fuel Vapors with Nittos, liked the look but they were heavy, wheels were 36#’s each, not sure about the tires.
They had very little wear after 25k but we’re losing wet traction easily, rubber drying out?
My current set is TIS wheels with Mickey Thompson tires, 26#’s per wheel, again not sure about the tires weigh.
I’m at about the same mileage with the MT’s and haven’t noticed lose of traction.

What part of the country are you located in? Why the tires dried out?

I’m in south Florida., I bought a set of nitto G2s about five years ago.
I don’t drive a lot anymore,so there is good tread depth left, however in the last year wet traction has left the conversation.
Trying to get moving when the roads are wet requires lots of feathering the throttle.
I’m ready to try a different brand.

The only time I bought wheels and tires as a set was on an old Mitsubishi Eclipse. The original wheels were bad. I used Tire Rack. They came already mounted and balanced so it was an easy swap.

I'll 2nd custom offsets. I Still have the last set of wheels I purchased from than and they run out great.

Although I would ask questions about their tire sensors and I'd say no to their additional services like ceramic coating, etc.

I'd probably say yes to lugs nuts, jest because they need occasional replacement

I am in west northern central Florida. Before I commit to a set of tires, I’m concerned about what your experience with these tires has been?

What tire have you selected the next time and why?

I’m in N. VA, not sure that’s what happens to tires as they age, hardens might have been a better word.
I don’t use any tire protectant/shine, can’t see that it would make a difference in traction loss, but might extend the life of sidewalls.
In my mind whatever happens to cause low mileage older tires to dry rot and need replacement while still having tread left is related.
I imagine that the quality of the rubber varies and why the guarantees of mileage goes up with cost of the tire.
I’ve done no research on this so completely just my experience or 02 cents.
I have seen more than a few post’s from members that love their Nitto’s, mine could have been a couple years old when I bought them new,
I didn’t check when they made.
I can say even a light tap on the gas in any type of damp conditions would break traction, so far the M.T.’s are better IMO

What are M.T. Tires? I know it’s an abbreviation but what does it stand for?

My truck is strictly on road driving and highway driving.

I have contacted them. They have a package which I temporarily put in my online cart. I did select a new set of lug nuts.

Are you saying there’s a potential problem with the tire pressure sensors that they use?

Mickey Thompson, sorry should have wrote it out because could also refer to mud terrain.

It seems like our trucks are very picky with anything electronic, best bet is to stick with oem sensors, IMO

I bought 17" Fuel Beasts and 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers last spring from Custom Offsets. Price was competitive and they got them right out to me. However I'll say I lost a wheel cap and called them to buy a replacement and the service at that point was crap. I'm {still} waiting on a call back about purchasing it, even though I've now purchased it already.

Oem sensors seem to work best. I had no problems with custom offsets, I didn't buy their sensors.

I ordered wheels from Custom Offsets last year for my Ram and they sent entirely different wheels, then argued with me that all the pictures have a disclaimer that they can just send you whatever random wheels and that's my problem not theirs.

Mistakes happen, telling the customer to suck it up because they have a "we can send you random stuff that doesn't resemble the pictures" disclaimer is pretty lame especially considering wheels are fundamentally a cosmetic purchase.

If the picture showed some wheels with 0 offset and you ordered and received -20mm offset and they looked a little different, welcome to the internet. Pictures for every single bolt pattern or 2mm offset change isn't realistic, you have to do your research to verify what they will look like on your truck. Their gallery is my go-to for looking at similar set ups. Or look at other similar websites.

You wrote your post as though you ordered some Fuels and they were just like "nah, just throw some Moto Metals in the box, it's close enough" when that's obviously not what happened. It wasn't them sending the wrong thing, it was a lack of research.
