New to Diesel's. Coming from a Tacoma

Hello everyone,

Name is Ray and I am from TN. I am in the market for a Ram 2500 Laramie. I am looking at a 2016 but would like a 13-18. Just want to get some pointers, things to look out for etc? Is there a list of TSB I should make sure are completed to purchasing. Thank you for any advice.

If your going the diesel route, I would highly recommend looking at the turbo diesel register forum. I think it is the best place to find, and learn information for what you are looking for. Hopefully I'm not violating any rules by linking the site. Good luck with your search.

I don't have a complete list of TSB's but there are a few.
I would avoid the 13' as there were some improvements in the emissions and suspension after that. I would actually stay in the 16' and up range if you can.

Things to look for/avoid.
Absolutely do not buy a deleted and tuned truck. More then likely you will be getting someone else's headache. Same goes for a lifted one.
Make sure it doesn't have a ton of idle hours (you can find that in the dash screen). I think somewhere around ~10% is normal. The engine and transmission are pretty solid as long as they weren't messed with (deleted).
Make sure the front end is tight and no significant play in the ball joints, tie rods etc. (this was more an issue on the 3rd gen trucks but still should check)
Also test drive it on the highway for a bit and make sure it doesn't have an vibrations. Some people complained about having them though I did not have that with my truck.

What do you plan on towing with the truck? Just make sure you are not better suited in a 3500
