New to this forum, 10.5 year satisfied owner of my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500.

Hello, my Name is Manny. I am the proud owner of this 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi / Sport SLT.

I purchased my truck memorial day weekend 2004 brand new from a local dealer. The truck was on sale for $28,900.00. It had 20 miles on the odometer.

When I purchased the truck new it didn't have the Hemi Sport spoilers/running boards. I had that installed 3 months later.

The truck is Flame Red exterior w/taupe interior. It has a 5.7 Hemi with only a K@N drop in filter, no other mods.

After getting a little bit bored with a stock, 4x2 looking pick up truck, I decided that it was time for a couple of little enhancements.

First, after wearing out my 3rd set of 275/60r20 stock size tires in a 10 year period, I decided to change the wheels out for 22" wheels w/ 305/45r22 street tires. After only one week I decided that they looked too small.

I went back to the wheel and tire shop and bought a set of 24" wheels w/ 305/35r24 street tires. The look was ok but the ride was bad with those rubber band low pro tires. I put my stock set up back on and just drove it around like that for a couple of months.

Finally, I made a decision to get a 2.5" torsion bar leveling kit and 1" rear blocks. My plans were to run some 33x12.50s on my 24"s however the closest thing I found were these 325/45r24 Pirellis. These measure 35.5x 13.

I jacked up my truck with a floor jack to 3". The tires were still rubbing when I turned. It was at this point in time that I decided to go for a 5" suspension lift.

I went with the Rough Country RCX 5"/3" lift kit with shocks. I also had them install the Pro Ride torsion bar duck head leveling kit with no thought of there being any addition lift. I just figured they were stronger and might help.

When I got my truck back, the results were exciting. I ended up with a 6.5" lift in the front and a 3" lift in the rear using blocks. The truck looks very tall and sits perfectly level. I love it! The best part is that there is no rubbing or scrubbing and any turn radius. :peace:

Thank you. I had my truck completely repainted with PPG premium polyurethane paint/clear coat in mid 2010 after a minor accident. I am thankful that I can still fit my truck in my garage to help preserve the paint.

I would love to have my own garage lol. I also saw that you had a rough country suspension how's that working for ya? My clear coat and paint worsens daily, FL weather is hell on vehicles.

The truck still rides great. A little bit stiffer than stock but no power loss or bouncy ride. I am satisfied with my decision in lifting the truck.

Here are a some of pics of my previous Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Sport Offroad. (2001)

Well, it's like anything...it all depends on how rough you off road your truck. I don't do any hard off roading anymore like I did with the 2001 Ram. I broke a couple of things on that one but I used to beat that truck up. My 2004 has been and will continue to be a street princess for the most part. This is why I didn't get mud tires.

Ah, I had a serious mud bogger tell me that rough country had quality issues and they snap easy shocks I mean. Now me I have no ambition or want to mud bog but, I want something that would be good for suspension travel.

Do you know why my 2004 dodge ram 1500 is still running hot after buying a new thermostat, new water pump, new clutch fan, new radiator, AND bled it?
