Go straight to nitromethanol........don't mess around.
They're 2 differant enties, lol. Nitromethane is an oxygen bearing fuel,so the more you stuff in the cylinder the more power it'll make until it hydrolocks and turns into a bomb, lol. Nitrous Oxide isn't a fuel it's a blend of 2 parts Nitrogen and 1 part Oxygen, that seperates in the cylinder once the combustion temps hit roughly 900F,and the oxygen then promotes the burn, while the nitrogen which doesn't burn in the cylinder becomes a cooling medium, thats why you need to add more fuel to the mix otherwise the cylinder goes lean, and you'll put a hole in a piston almost instantly.Been there/done that more then i like to think about in my younger days, lol.I came up through the experimental days in the early 80's of drilling out spray bars and praying to god you hadn't went to big with the drill bit on the nitrous bar:rolleyes: .This was long before A/Fr gauges were available and all you had was the ability to read the plugs after every pass,if they lasted the whole pass:waytogo::Big Laugh:

They also got away with upwards of 90% Nitro, before NHRA started mandating lower percentages. Those were the days when a top fuel motor was literally a bomb, just waiting to explode, lol
