No brakes, no power steering

I have a 1997 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel. All of a sudden I have no power steering and the brakes barely stop the truck. What happened and how can I fix it?

Havent worked on any of these trucks however a quick google says its a hydroboost issue look for leaks ect.


'A 1997 Ram 2500 losing both steering and brakes simultaneously is most commonly caused by a failure in the hydroboost system, which uses the power steering pump to assist both functions'.

I don't remember if I lost brakes or not, but when I was driving my brothers second gen and I lost power steering, started getting hot etc, it was because the harmonic balancer on the crank had died and wasn't driving the serpentine like it should.
