Personally I would double check your tstat to make sure its working properly in a pan of boiling water on the stove. I had a similar issue with my old 97 and come to find out the tstat was completely missing. Put in a good one and I had heat.

Your heater core may have a blockage and produce minimal heat...just from personal experience i was about to rip my dash out and replace my heater core, because a 30 minute drive to work when you have no heat and its 20 degrees just sucks! i heard a mopar rumor online and tried it. it said to swap your heater core hoses on the firewall and the reversed flow would break up or clear the blockage if you had one. In my case, it worked and my heat has never been as HOT as it is now. the extreme joy i felt from hot air flowing from my vents is unexplainable lol. good luck and hope this helps.

I would check your tstat to because it really shouldn't run over 180. might make sure you have right amount of coolant and it probably wouldn't hurt to flush ur heater core by taking off the hoses at the fire wall and running a garden hose backwards through the heater core. Coolant inlet is smaller than the outlet so run the garden hose into the bigger one. I have to do this to my athletic directors 96 durango every winter. This way works just as good as reversing the hoses except your not running all the nasty brown gunky crap back through your coolant system.

tried flushing out my heater core but my garden hose was still forzen blew it out with air heat is a little better its not crisp enough its ok for an engine to run up to 210 engines start detinate at 230. im not worried about the temp most thermostat are 195 most fans dont fully enguage until 200 some thing. lower temps are more for high performance.next time its warm out or i find a heated garage changing my tstat
