To all my guys living in the north... Who experiences worse has mileage not due to letting our trucks warm up, but because of winter fuel? How much have you lost?

I live in sault Ontario Canada and my 5.7 crew cab always goes from like 11-13 L/100 in summer to 15-17 in the winter... Im sure its caused by gas/ letting it idle abit more on colder days... also using 4 wheel drive does take a toll on it as well

I bought a full size 4X4 pickup with a Hemi in it .... I don’t pay much attention to gas mileage .... I pay even less attention after lifting it, and putting 35” E loads under it .... But to answer your question, running around in the the snow in 4WD will kill your mileage .... I don’t notice much diff with the winter fuel

I don't get super cold temperatures, just down into the teens (F) but I also don't let my truck warm up much before driving - just get the engine running and wait a few seconds and then just start easing out of the neighborhood not asking for a lot of power until the temp starts registering on the gauge cluster.

Knocking down all the fresh snow in my unplowed neighborhood probably eats a bit of mpg, running in 4wd (part time transfer case) eats a little, change in driving style to accommodate the slippery conditions & other traffic affects mpg.. probably the fuel blend affects it a bit but there are too many variables for anybody outside a lab to produce clear statistics on which parts are costing more fuel and what could be done to improve it.

For my own part I just accept that winter mpg is going to be worse and that's the price we pay for being able to mostly ignore the weather when we decide we'd like to go somewhere.

Here in Maine with winter gas and some warm up time I drop about 1 to2 MPG ! We do run Winter Blend Fuel :( And yes I know a truck does not get MPG like a Prius but I still watch my MPG the truck gets what it gets and really doesn't matter too much that is why I drive it more then my car that gets 28mpg lol

I only checked my mileage when I first took a trip to Louisiana in mine. It got 22 on I-55 from Sikeston to Jackson with 3 adults, luggage and the a/c on.

Never checked it again.

I don’t notice much if any difference in the winter blend. As already stated it’s the letting warm up and driving in 4wd that sucks the fuel down faster.

Fog and -43 degree ? That just isn't right! It should be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Has to be brutal.

Highway mpg between winter and summer on mine is about 2 mpg for the most part - but some of that is also due to dense cold air.

We get ice fog when it gets that cold

I don't watch mileage nearly as much in the winter. It's just not something to get close to accurate for me. I use the remote start significantly more in the winter, add in using 4 wheel drive or "spirited" driving and winter blend fuel. It's never going to be favorable. I usually just crunch numbers at the pump for curiosity, I think my worst so far was average 9.8 MPG for the tank. Which had a lot of idle time on it.
