So I have looked and looked and cant find the info I need. I have a 2005 quad 4x4 1500 and I have found that I can only go 2in in the front to not rip the boots but 2in. From what? What is stock? I looked at the torsion at bolts and the left one was out an inch from the bolt head to where it threads in and the right one was all the way out. The truck sat at drivers side 32 1/2 from bottom of the rim to the fender and 32 on the pass side. After searching and thinking about it I found that running the bolts in is the same as getting new keys for $100. Is that right? Anyway I ran the bolts in until there was 3/4 of an inch left out and the truck after a ride sits at 34 even. Is that to high? Thanks for the help. Mike.

Running the bolts in is the same thing as getting the keys. Your assumption was correct. 34 sounds right. As long as your level with the rear and no higher you'll be fine

Great thanks, I put a level on the bed and I is still a bit lower in the front but it looks like I should. Now I think I'll drive it for a bit to make sure I like it and got some new shocks. By the way, what size tires can I stuff under it and still have some wheel well gap?

Best way to tell if its level or not is measure from the ground to the fenders on all 4 corners and that will give you the most accurate.

Make sure you get an aligment.

And with stock wheels and you clear 35s...but 33s look the best on a leveled truck.

Looks like they have you covered. As mentioned don't forget to get the front end aligned.

Right now the truck is one inch lower in the front than the rear no matter if I measure from the ground 39f/40r or bottom of the rim 34f/35r. Now may e tires in the near future. Maybe 305/55/20 or 315/55/20. Any ideas or recamendations? I should start a new thread on that perhaps.

Ok, so I have drove the truck for a few days now and here is what I have. When I started the t-bolts were all the way loose so I now have from the bottom of the rims 34 in the front and 35 1/2 in the back. Does this mean I can go another 1 1/2 in the front? As it is now the t-bolts are 3/4 of an inch from all the way in. Here is a pic. What i think I am trying to do here is get a agressive look and put some 305/55/20 or 315/55/20 on with HD Monsters but have it up enough to not fill the wheel well with tire and not have to put a body lift on or spend the money for the sus lift.

I think I am being sold the business! I stopped by 2 off road shops today just to see about a one inch block for the rear and they said that I had to buy keys for the front that just cranking up the bolts was un safe and put to much stress on the bar? Am I missing something but doesn't the bar have to have the same amount of stress on it to achieve an equal height with or without keys? And they said something about the bolt being on to much of an angle without the keys.

no you do not need the keys. If you buy the keys that is money for them(cost of keys and labor)....plain and simple. The lift keys are indexed different so they do the same thing just with less turns of the screw.........still the same amount of stress on the torsion bars
