OK, this is going to sound really dumb, but...
Is there a newer OBD port on the newer vehicles? And when I say newer, I mean OBDIII (3)? I know the OBDII (2) ports are on most vehicles since 1996 or so, but, I have a coworker that has mentioned OBDIII (3) a couple times in discussions. Now, I haven't looked at my truck to verify, but it got me thinking... maybe it's a newer version that has come out. I haven't found anything with a Google search about a newer version, but I'm just curious. Maybe it's on certain vehicles?
I have a couple of gauges that are OBDII (2) that monitor vehicle performance with something like 86 different readings (depending on the vehicle). I had them installed in our Land Rover Discovery's to monitor engine temp. I'm just wondering if I can switch them over to the 2014 RAM and the 2013 Durango, now. Granted, the EVIC in both can give me most of that info already, but it is another "gadget" that I can play with.
This is what I have: UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center It's a great little gadget to keep an eye on things, and will read codes and clear them. It can be programmed for a number of different readouts. I know there are cheaper options out there, but I already have 2 of these, so I thought I could use them for the fun of it, if they will work.
