As the title states, I started noticing an odd sound coming from somewhere in the upper engine bay. It's only heard under mild and hard acceleration. Around the same time I noticed the sound, I had a slight loss of low end power, burns far more gas, and doesn't seem to downshift properly. Kinda sounds like a pump sucking water really fast. Is this a vacuum leak of some sort or is this something more than just that? Oh I also noticed the other day when changing my oil pressure switch (sending unit), the plastic piece that fits on top of the throttle body that connects to the intake tube sits far more loosely than I thought it should. There isn't anything I found that really holds it on place like it should other than the wing nut that comes through the top of the plastic housing. I was wondering if this could be a possible source of the mystery sound I've been hearing. Any help or advice will be highly appreciated.

Well what kind of sound is it, hissing, gurgling, clanking, ticking?

Loss of power and losing coolant? Kinda sounding like a blown head gasket to me. Have you checked your oil recently? If it looks like chocolate milk, you got your telltale sign.

Heavy oil consumption sounds like the usual blown intake plenum. I gotta replace mine (losing half a quart a week!), just waiting for Winter to **** off, LOL.

Yea, I checked the oil, no water or anything in it. I was worried like hell for a second. I'm still investigating too. I'll keep you posted when I find out what is causing my loss of power

So the noise is completely gone after a few times purging my cooling system. As for the loss of power, clogged cat. Apparently it wasn't enough to throw a code for me long enough to get it checked though. The light would come on at wot, but go off the second I got out of it. Changed the cat and not it's downshifting properly and is acting good as new.
