Hey folks,
Along with running a search I thought I would try to post this question and hopefully get a few ideas. I have a '09 1500 SLT Quad Cab w/ OEM Running boards. Yesterday the running board tried to take on a rather large pile of snow/ice while pulling out of the driveway and lost. The 2 rearmost mounts separated from the rocker panel, ripping out the bolt mount in the process leaving a couple of new holes in the panel. Looks like the area way likely weakened a little by rust.
What are my possible options for remounting the support brackets? Talked to a body shop and they want to replace the whole rocker panel and I'd really like to find a DIY option that is not nearly that expensive (that does not include removing the steps completely). I thought of fabricating a new mounting plate and welding that to the panel but I'm not sure if that is a reasonable option. I am not great on the welding side of things...
Thanks for the input!
