Hey folks, so I've been getting the hyperflashing issue inside the cab of my '17 1500 but all the signals seems fine. Or at least, I thought. But I finally noticed that the right turn signal has a "square" out. I figured just change the bulb, right? Nope. There is some sort of board with integrate LEDs on it and I'm guessing that the entire headlight assembly has to be replaced because of one silly LED out on the board. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I cleaned the connector, both ends, with electronic cleaner but no joy.
Can the board itself be replaced? I was worried about breaking tabs to check it out, and I can't seem to find a replacement board anyway.
I should mention that they appear to be OEM "RAM" headlights with a single connector and two bulbs, one for the regular beams and one for the high beams.
I found a replacement assembly on eBay but it says it's for a 2013-2015 RAM, but looks exactly the same.

eBay Assembly

Thoughts and suggestions? The super-fast flashing in the cab is driving me bonkers, even though the signals on the exterior flash normally. I thought about trying to live with it but what happens when a bulb actually does go out?

Many thanks!

Looks like a reasonable replacement and at that price, it's not a big gamble. Good luck.

Thanks David. Dumb question maybe but how do I know of I have DLRs, daytime running lights? And does that matter for the replacement I purchase?

Daytime running lights are mandatory in all Canadian Provinces and possibly specific US States.

During daylight hours, when the signal lights are configured as DRLs, they will remain illuminated until you select the headlights to be on, or during an auto-on, if your truck has that feature.

If the Amazon product you have linked above has the same multipin connector, you should be good to go. Keep in mind that there's no guarantee your OE bulbs are the same p/n. That means your old bulbs won't be good as spares.

AlfaOBD will allow you to enable or disable DRLs. I would keep them active for added visibility if I had the choice. You would not require a security bypass cable for AlfaOBD with your pre-2018 truck.

There's another option; if your State doesn't mandate DRLs, you could buy AlfaOBD and change the DRLs to low beams, fog lights or shut them off. That wouldn't be my preferred option.

On my previous trucks, I've always kept all the lights on. The LED DRLs alone on the Ram truck are satisfactory for me unless I'm on the road all day and/or in bright sunlight.

Funny, I discovered I'm getting an OBDlink MX+ for Christmas. The wife forgot she ordered it, opened it, and said "what's an OBDlink?!" Oops, lol. So I went ahead and downloaded the Android app.
Besides the DLR options, I need to change the tire size to get my speedo calibrated. What other stuff do guys do with AlfaOBD?
That's a shame about the bulbs not being backups but I can live with that. And the connector looks the same to me but I should check the color codes or pinouts.

The tire size calculators on the Internet do not allow for the distortion caused by the contact patch. So you will have to adjust for that in both the BCM and the ABS and Engine ECUs. Quite a complex process that can be researched on this forum successfully.

I've reset my tire circumference twice per year, and usually it's a simple one-stop tweak in the BCM. I used a legacy stand-alone TomTom GPS and a calculator to determine the custom circumference setting for both my summer and winter wheels.

That said, I have had the ABS module go bonkers on one occasion while adjusting the wheel size. AlfaOBD has a warning notification about the potential for the ABS module to malfunction and provides directions for the initialization process.

I should also mention I've had a few surprises when exploring new tweaks, like the EPS or EVIC going dead.

Just like any AlfaOBD tweaks, one should make a baseline config backup first, both the hex file and the English version. And always exercise caution!
I usually limit most changes to only those that I have read about being successful.

When attempting any unusual tweaks, I limit them to one change at a time, and bring my laptop in the truck, in case I have to revert.

Thanks for the input, fellas. I'll be careful. I've already watched about fifty walkthrough videos and feel pretty good about it. And yeah, for sure, I'll do a backup before making ANY changes. Is google drive the only place to do that?

AFAIK, the Android version of AlfaOBD provides an option to backup only to google drive.
I use the windoze version and can configure the backup file to save to any local drive/SSD.

Remember to save the hex backup file and the English Read System ID or log file off the Status/Faults tab.

Alas, I bought the android version since a lot of videos said they had trouble with the winders version. So google drive it is. They already know everything about me anyway, probably including my underwear size

You may have to enable the developer tools to download APK files, depending on the phone.
You can also download from the playstore, but I avoid it like the plague.

And no, you are not at risk downloading APK files, that is another google lie to keep you attached.

Yes sir, I'm very familiar with APK files, thanks for the link :)

I had to bring several phones back from the dead (as in re-flashing the firmware) for a sculpture I've been working on....for several years

That robot looks creative and interesting, but now I've become distracted by the next auto-play YouTube video. I'm sure that I've seen it before, but it looks new today.
The history of the creation of LEDs. I'm saving that video for later.

Sometimes being an electronics nerd is useful, and other times, a black hole that eats up time.

Did you construct the Android Droid 8 years ago?
And, do you still have possession of the Droid?
