Oh SNAP!! Help!

Past 2 days I have been hearing a god awful racket on the left rear wheel when I hit bumps.. I got under there today to see what it was and this is what I see:

The crossmember that the top of the shock bolts to rusted out and snapped off! Any idea on how to fix that??

Probably going to have to have a new one rewelded on there.

Looks like you need to pull off your bed and give your frame some TLC!

It's very likely the other side is not far from it. You can at least pull the shock off for now, clearly it's not doing it's job as is. BlueTorch Fabrication sells a wide variety of shock mounts that you could fairly easily make work.

Well I just got back from my buddys shop and he is gonna fab and weld up some stuff to fix it.. I have to go over there in the morning to have it fixed.. I will snap a few pick when its done..

Yes the bed will be coming off and the frame will get the tlc that is needed.. it just seems like stuff always goes wrong at the wrong time! I am supposed to go pick up a travel trailer on friday so this just added stress that I really didnt need right now.. If all goes well it will be fixed in the morning..

pull off bed, clean up rust, reweld a mount,paint,put on bed,mount shock. any friends with a welder?

Always nice having friends that can help!

Yea, that's why I am making a payment on a new truck.
Yea it sucks, but it rarely has issues (especially ones like this!)

Well I didn't get any pics like I was going to but it is welded back on there from top and bottom with a reenforcement plate welded in there as well.. Next time I have the spare out I will snap a few pics..

Better know than with the travel trailer attached.
