Oil Catch Can ?

Ive had catch cans on my last (3) 5.7L 1500s.
Now, Im in the market for a 6.4L and am pretty bummed one cant be added easily to it.

I have a BT CC on my 19' 5.7, had one on my 06' 300SRT8 6.1, and on pretty much all of my vehicles. Their "Z" bracket it comes with is nice!

I empty it every OCI and there's an OZ or two in there.
Bit of a PITA to get it off, but I love the looks of the BT.

The Moroso one is sweet; mounts a bit different, but it has a drain valve on the bottom & makes draining it really easy!

The description on this says 2009 to current, then stops at 2019 when listing models at the bottom. Will this fit 2022 / 5th gen? I didn’t find a different product for 5th gen.

Yes I have one that i took off of my challenger when i traded it in for my ram. I empty it every 2k miles and its just below half way filled

Drop down menu at the top under select year and finish lets you choose the 19-present model.

Yes it will. Click on the drop down menu where it says select year. It will show a listing for 2019-Present

I have one on my 14 Ram. I think it’s the same one that GTyankee has. Empty it on the 1st of every month. After having to remove and clean my throttle body on my 05 Ram, I will use a catch can on all of my vehicles. Also, no more “performance” air filters that you “treat” with oil. The poll finds it’s way into the throttle plate and cakes up.

Unless you live weres its cold, it will be empty all the time. Mine only fills up in the winter.

Heck if I could go back I wouldn't install one on my 6.4L intake.

Got the UPR one on mine, works great. I put catch cans on every vehicle I care about, modern cars need them.

The 6.4 in the cars already have one built in. It drains back into the engine................That said, it is not necessary unless you have a high milage engine that may have a significant amount of blow back. And even then, run the engine and spray injector cleaner through the air filter. It will clean out the intake too. Or spray carb cleaner through the air cleaner with the engine running. Use the whole can. Same thing. Waste of time and money unless you are one of the cool kids with a chrome cold air intake......that is a hot air intake because it pulls air from the engine bay, where it is hot..................Leave it alone. You will get over 200k miles from it doing nothing. When it fails, put a rebuilt long block in it, rinse and repeat...............Some of the smartest people in the industry have already tested and decided there is no benifit unless it is a high performance model.

I empty mine at every oil change. It is rather low all the time but I like monitoring it.

I also empty mine at every oil change and usually get 2-3 oz of oil out of the catch can. I do tow quite a bit at high rpm's, so that is too be expected. But I am glad that the oil being caught is not going back into the intake manifold.

I have one on my stroker because I'm using a 6.1 intake and its an easy install.

I never used one on the original 5.7 motor, which was running fine when I pulled it with 272,000 miles, all original parts except the water pump and ps pump.

+1, installed over a year ago, usually pour out I think ~1/2 cup every ~4k miles. (Might need to check more often...)

Unless you have a GDI engine its overkill. The 5.7 INMO if its something you want it can't hurt. Getting a high quality oil, filter, air filter is a much higher need.

A show of hands please. How many out there have installed a "oil catch can" on their 5.7 motors? I've read on the Challenger Forum that a good number of owners install them on their "hemi" motors. How bout you?

I didn't actually know what a catch can was until researched it. I have a 2017 RAM, 1500 5.7 and would also like to know if I should install one. Thankyou all for the responses.

About 10 years ago, Chargers & other similar cars, mounted the Catch Can on the inner fender, i don't know if they still do that.
As long as elevation of the Catch Can is correct, it should work where you want it to be.
