So I stopped at my local Mopar parts dealer to get a filter for my oil change... He looked it up in the computer and came back with the filter. i assumed he knew what he was doing and left. got the truck up on the ramps and was about to take the filter off and noticed the one he gave me was HALF literally half the size of the stock filter. soooo I called them and was like WTF this filter is like a car sized filter and he said its correct and that Ram put out a TSB or a note that the filter size was changed. I am just nervous about this I have stealership trust issues sooo my question to the mob is;

Did they change the filter size on our trucks or was this guy giving me a load of BS? I can post part numbers when I get home...

THANKS

My '13 had a baby filter on it.
I used the same PN as my 11 which is about 4-5" dia.
Spun on and works just fine.

If it fits you must acquit. If you want better filtration you can always upgrade to a bypass system. Really makes sense for Cummins owners, in my opinion should be the first upgrade for any diesel. But you can run them in a Hemi too, will keep your oil cleaner and it easier to change your oil yourself because it put the filter wherever you want it instead of the factory position.

Just for reference, the Wix# for a '12 w/Hemi is #57899. It's a fair size. I would be concerned about flow through a baby filter on such a large displacement engine, but that's me. I use a Maxima filter on my Sentra, too.

Just got off the phone with the dealer as I have the same problem only reversed. Went to get oil and filter and when I got home the new one was twice the size as the old. Dealer gave me 04892339 AA part number. That is what was on it from the factory but all the parts stores only come up with one filter(the larger M0-899). So I had them cross reference the dealer number and ended up with Mobile 1 M1-113. The filter fits fine but now my concern is the manual calls for 7 WTD of oil and I'm near full w 6qts.

If I remember correctly I put 6 in and had to wait a while because I was reading full, went down and was able to get the 7th in.

Either way too small or too big there wont be any problems if they fit. We use high flow oil, 5w20 is not going to have any flowing issues.
