Thank you.

First time I ever saw this gadget. I helped my neighbor do an oil change on his daughter's car. According to him he has to do the services like a Nascar pit crew as the car is only still or stationary for a brief time. He uses it to not burn his hands as he does the oil change I guess when the engine is still warm.

Cool gadget

2-gallon zip-lok bag around the filter…. use old welding gloves if it’s hot…. unscrew it… zip the bag shut…toss it away. Lot’ cheaper.

I use the oil udder I purchased if NOT having done at a good local garage. Kinda depends how I feel and if I wanna play the "filter" game, and how warm it is here. Currently all temps 95F +++ not count heat index. I gotta wait as I have to order an RP anyway if I cannot find a FE2 Endurance Fram. And I have to drive to another town 45 minutes away to get my PUP oil.

This guy's a Sargent in the highway patrol. I need him more than he needs me. He can use whatever he wants. I thought it was a cool gadget. I 100% agree its over priced. But it was cool to see it work.

Dam...i gotta get me one of those...I too use the zip loc bag thing...still a pain,...there is an edge on my oil pan that gets me everytime(or something i cant see up in there)..little cut but it's every dam time...after a couple sec. of unscrewing that filter it gets a little slimmy in the bag and the grip just isn't good enough to do it quickly..makes me change my grip and scrapes that pan everytime..dammit!

Fellows, I've been using an oil-filter oil catch since my first Ram, 2005 2500 5.7 HEMI rolled new off the lot, on its 3nd oil change, my nu oil drip catch did not cost me a cent. I got where I did not care for the warm oil down my arm anymore while removing the filter and being very vertical to not spill more. == THE FIX; My nu oil drip+ catch was/still is, is a Pilgrim's Chicken liver plastic cup. It is just flared enough to allow the 2 tablespoons of oil to inter the cup off the filter's top business end on the std filter size and flexible enough for a slight hand squeeze to grip the filter and 1/4 turn the cupped filter, till it is off the engine's 8 retainer threads. ===== Your new found 'thang-dangle', I can't see in how the qt jar is useful in anyway at the point of removing the engine's front vertical attached 5.7 oil filter. The cup looks to be too flared to fit proper without aggravation in setting it in place to work? OBTW, cats luv cooked up chicken livers.

Awhile after buying my 2003 I discovered the angled adapter the Durangos those years used and installed one. Stopped getting oil all over the steering rack. Something else I've always had and comes in much handier with the 4th gen is this remover with the crinkle tube. Works really well with the cars as well.

I use an oil udder too. It works very well for me. Before that I used the zip lock bag technique with mixed results. I feel it was worth going with the oil udder.

Wat I use if I am not lazy, or I go to local garage I trust. I give them oil, lube guard and filter.

If you drain the oil out of the oil pan first very little oil will drain out of the the filter. Place the drain pan under the filter. Been doing it the way for years.

The oil that’s in the filter does not drain out when you drain the oil out of the oil pan. It makes no difference whether you change the filter first or last, you will get the same amount of oil out of the filter. For what it’s worth, I’ve always drained the oil out of the oil pan before the filter.

I’ve never worked on a 2nd gen so I’m unfamiliar with the filter location. But I doubt it’s anywhere near as much of a pain on the 360 as it is on 4th and 5th gen 1500’s with the 5.7 Hemi, which most of the complaints are about.

^^^^^^^...agreed......I always drain the pan 1st..kinda thought that was standard protocol.....I pull the plug and kinda walk away and do something else for a fair amount of time before I come back to it..like you said same oil in the filter and it's still enough to make that zip-loc bag slimmy....lol
